Thinking for footing some bowhunter 500's.

Math says 2013's should fit well...still need to find some 2013's to try in person.

My questions is..with such a thin wall on the 2013's will it even make a difference?

Thanks

The original and primary purpose of the footing is to provide some protection from the insert pushing the shaft tube open and going inside, breaking it. This happens when hitting something hard, like a stump. If even a very thin circle of aluminum keeps that from happening, you won.

Additional stiffness further along the shaft is a plus to some, but not all.

Thanks Chuck,

I'm thinking for strength only as I'm sticking a big long 300 grain out on the end of it....lots of leverage..lol

I was contemplating a dual layer footing if needed...but haven't done the math to see what would fit...yet

Zradix....I believe I have some 2013's that I cut up to use as footings once upon a time. Let me know if your interested and I'll dig em' out and see what I have.

Zradix,I wondered that too.I'm using 2013's on some Victory arrows, with long Grizzlies weighted to 325-350 grs and the arrows have been holding up well.I've yet to have one of those footings fail, including hitting rocks and a steel pipe.I have broke some Victorys mid shaft on side slaps but none on frontal impacts, with the 1" 2013 footings.Mine are Platinum 2013's.Been shooting them for at least 2 years.
