***Have always wanted to put skins on myself, so I chose Prarie Rattler skins and my Predator Hunter. This is my first bow skin so it's far from perfection! Been working on them on and off since Thanksgiving. First soaked the skins in warm water then applied them with a generous coating of Elmer's glue. After several days of straightening and pressing with a 3/4" dowel rod, I  then trimmed and de-scaled with clear packaging tape. They were still somewhat wet underneath so I waited a full month,(over kill, I know), but I wanted to give the Elmer's glue plenty of time to cure! Then came x5 coats of super glue with light sanding between each one. Then again waited about a month to cure,(over kill again)! Last week I finally got around to putting on x6 coats of spray on satin varnish. Again, I know they are not perfect but I think they turned out ok! What do you think? ...Only regret is that I shoud've taken pics of every stage...oh well, next time perhaps.

Nice looking bow. I have an osage longbow I made that I want to skin. Looks pretty good on that recurve you got there.

In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Love the overlays of skin on the belly side of the riser.  Very cool touch!

Love that green phase of Prairies. I did one bow with them and really love the look. You did great. I have never used Elmers but have heard of it and sounds like it worked. God bless and looks great., Steve

lad

great job. How much did you rough up the fiberglass limbs before applying the glue and skin?

Hey Lad...First off ...I made it a point to research and watch as many videos as poss. on line...taking a little info from each one. But as for the limbs...I went over them a couple good times with emery cloth, making sure they were real "dull" looking all over. Also made sure they were wiped clean.  Thanks, and you can do it!

Looks great! Does the snakeskin slow down the limbs at all?
