Bob B.

At this years WTA I was lucky enough to be asked by Chris to shoot his proto-type hill style bow, a string follow.

It was 66 iches, with a 16 inch riser, 46 @ 28. Unbraced, the bow exhibits about 3/8 inches of follow ( estimation).  I ahve a 29 inch draw.  With shorter working limbs I was concerned about stack.  I was surprised in how smooth the bow was, no stack at all!

The core was elm - with brown glass back and belly.  I think it was 1 1/4 inches at the fades and a half inch at the tips.  The limbs are not trapped and the riser was one piece of wood without any accents.  It is a straight grip - broom hande-ish, no wedge, and about 4 1/2 inches - a bit long bit nice.

The bow is very quiet and easy on both draw and release as a string follow should be. It had a hint of shock, but it is a proto-type and I never played with brace height either.  I can not comment on cast as I was shooting only a few yards, but man the bow shoots well.  It was easy to keep the arrows touching on the target and I had to be careful not destoy his arrows.

I sure had fun talking with him about this new bow and shooting it made my day!  I think Chris is on to something here!!

So those of you who enjoy shooting Hill style bows, keep an eye on New Wood Longbows ... his string follow is a winner!

Thanks Bob,

I really appreciate your input and am looking forward to incorporating some of the modifications you suggested.

This is a fun new project, always exciting to see a new design take shape.  I hope to have the model "up and running" within the next couple of months.

Take Care,    Chris

New Woods are the "best kept secret" bows out there. Chris really has a great product and knows his stuff. I ordered a Legacy at the Kalamazoo Expo and can't wait to get it!

anyone get a pic? Is Chris going to be at the deer turkey expo with the bow?<><

I think I might get one of these New woods. The vanguard looks like a perfect crossover for a recurve shooter like myself.
