Many hunters have asked us about spot and stalk in the past but our main property wasn't always conducive to it.My answer has always been, sure we can try it but it could make stand hunting less productive.
My partner, Irv Eichorst, has been doing some networking with ranchers and has secured a 300 acre orange grove for spot and stalk bowhunting.
It is close to our main property, so doing a stand hunt and spot and stalk during the same hunt is now an option. There are Osceola turkeys on the new place, too!
In addition to that, we have added 30 acres to our original property and are looking at another forty acre piece this weekend.
More property equals less pressure on the hogs which in turn makes for better hunting(which is already good).
I will post some photos after the weekend.

I will try and post some pics of the new grove (and hopefully some game) after this weekend.
It is a working grove so the hogs are thick in there with all the fruit dropping.
Just hope it stops raining soon, very unusual to have rain here in February.

Rain? You don't know how good you have it Jim. It's 23 degrees and 4 more inches of snow will fall tonight. Wish I was down in the Florida hog woods and swamp in the rain.

For those that are heading to Florida any time soon, a pig hunt at TSA will make your stay in the sunshine state great. Leave the wife and kids at a beach in Ft Piece and spend an afternoon or two with Jim and Irv.

Sounds like some good things are happening down there.

Hey Jim,
We are so fortunate to be able to hunt this property. The grove manager and I spent 4 hours yesterday driving the place and scouting from the truck. He showed me exactly where the hogs enter the property, and we also examined some of the rooting. Man...it's deep indicating some pretty good size animals. This guy is a hunter too, and was a big help as far as where to set up, where he has seen hogs, and even colors and sizes.
I pull in to the Tractor Supply parking lot this morning to buy corn and I run into the fellow again. Another conversation with some other tips. Super helpful...he wants some pigs taken out!
If you get up here in time we will go out tonight.
I got some nice pictures of some playful otters in the canals. I saw a dozen turkeys...when they spotted me, it was adios. Looks like a great amount of fun is going to be had here.
I already corned some of the roads and it will be pretty easy stalking between the orange rows, just walking on the beds, and slinking down in the ditches. The fruit is just about ready for picking. This place is groomed like a golf course compared to the wild and wooly Orange Ave. lease. Can't wait to get out there with recurve in hand.
Hey CJ...glad you had a good time with us...thanks for the kind words. Come on down again, I had a great time when you were here.

We had strong winds here the last few days and cold(for Florida.
Irv and I saw turkeys five times in two days scouting the new grove but the weather had the hogs on lockdown.
We have two open spots for Osceola turkeys, April 9-21.
Check out the video.

We spent the weekend getting our properties in tip top shape.
Dead Horse Ranch; 7 feeders spinning am and pm. Stands and or pop-up blinds in trad ranges(6-12 yards)
South Canal: 2 feeders with ground blinds at 10 yards
Big Grove(new): corned the roads, put up some trail cameras.
Kyle's Forty(new): identified two stand/feeder sites. Will hang feeders asap.
We have some availability for hogs and turkeys in April and May.
*One of the reasons Irv and I started our business is we were frustrated with hunts with hog outfitters(some). Stands were way too far from feeders, feeders often failed or had no corn in them, hounds running hogs while we were sitting on stand, charging a fee per hog, no hogs around, etc.
We have seen it all.

With those things in mind, we started True South Adventures. We have learned a lot and will continue to improve the operation with the goal of making it the best traditional bowhunting operation available.
We have had some amazing hunters in camp that we now consider friends.

My partner Irv Eichorst and his grandson are hog hunting the ranch this morning. He texted me that he just watched a big longbeard gobbling, struttin' and spittin'. He got a little video, too.
I will try and post it.
Nothing better than turkey hunting in the southern swamps. Season starts March 16-April 21.
We have two spots open,yet.
