Its a nice area. I used to live in evergreen, CO about 10 miles away. Still got a lot of friends that live out there. Lots of open spaces, state parks and forest service land out there. It has begun to develop more and more, but there are still probably lots of elk, mule deer and other critters out there. It is like most of the colorado mountain towns. Enjoy.

Brett, I live in South Evergreen about 5 miles from Conifer. I think it's a great place, about 8,000 feet.  Loaded with elk and mule deer.  Let me know if you would like to talk.

I live about 15 miles away.  Very pretty. You will be within 10 to 15 minutes of Vince / Mohawk Bows.  Good luck.

There are bows made there called mohawk I believe.

That is Straight-arrows back yard, get in touch with him, a great guy.  He's retired now so sleeps in most days!          Don't call him until after 11am....

I love the area and they have a fantastic archery range about a mile outside of town.  I shot there with Mark back in November.   They get quite a bit of snow in that area but typical of Colorado they get tons of sun and 50 degree winter days are not uncommon.  There's a couple nice shopping centers that have popped up in the past few years that are well laid out and will provide just about all you need without having to head into Denver.   Again I've only visited but don't think I'd have a problem living there.  Lots of elk and muleys in the area....drive SLOW at night!

Vince from Mohawk bows lives up there. I went and picked up a bow from him.  It is a very nice area.  Ken

Very nice little town, in the foothills west of Denver. Quite a bit of growth in the last few years, but still lots of mountain town feel, and close to national forest land.

One of the best archery shops in the country, IMO, is in Denver. Rocky Mountain Specialty Gear, at 52nd and Sheridan.

Drive "EXACTLY" the speed limit through Morrison.

Entire area is gorgeous place my daughter lives there as well.

I retired 5 years ago to Bailey about 10 miles south of Conifer. Area is the same, mostly Ponderosa Pine. You may not like the commute to Denver and it would depend also as to what part of Denver. As the other guys said there are lots of animals in this area. I have mt. lions around here a lot and bears in the spring. However it is all private land until you get past Bailey and up toward the Mt Evans wilderness area. The closest areas to hunt are draw areas and can take 3 years to draw for elk. Both are wilderness area and access is scarce.
You probably want to look online at homes for sale in the area. Get some maps(Google Earth) and start figuring where those homes are.
Jefferson county is one of the highest income counties. The next county west/south is Park county which is one of the largest and lowest income. Many homes in Park cty are empty.
