I have noticed that the Carbon Express Heritage shafts for the spine I think I'll need are heavier in the grains per inch column than the Goldtip version of "wood" shafts. I'm not sure if I want to have to fiddle with extra point weight on the GTs to achieve a heavier arrow.

Any suggestions/comments would be cool. I know that trying ALL different combos of each brand to see what shoots best is likely the best solution. It is however not super practical for me at this time.

GT has a heavy carbon arrow now. It is the one that Byron Ferguson is using.

Just ask yourself the question what weight you shoot the best.

The CE heritages are great arrows for a decent price, if the wood grain doesn't matter check out the CE Pile Drive they are around 15 plus gpi. The Furgeson heavy hitters are good arrows if gold tip makes them but they are pretty exspensine I think around 80 per 1/2 doz price may be different now though.

I shoot Heritage 350 with 175 point and have a 600 gr arrow.

Carbons have been found, by those who care and measure, to vary greatly by the dozen in spine, weight and straightness.

If you go cheap, like me, expect to tune each and every arrow individually, not one or two and then cut the dozen!

1829:  The Gold Tips will give you more FOC if you need to add more point weight.  On the other hand, if the CEs already give you the weight you want, they'll work fine as well.

Matt I have some carbon express that I do not shoot. I have 9 cx 150 and 11  250 all are 31" long if you want to play with them you can. Let me know the next time you're sitting outside NSA I can drop them off or meet up with you

1829 - Some folks don't like messing with the weight system on their arrows but I found it to be the best way to tweak my arrows for my shooting. No matter what weight arrow I want I can get it there with the GT's. I went down in poundage because of shoulder issues and just tweak the weights in my existing arrows and was ready to hunt. I have only used 2 brands of carbons in my life so I am speaking only from experience of what I have used so far.

I love the Heritage arrows but as of late I'm loving Beman's MFX Classics that feature the internal insert and micro diameter shafting even more, they have comparable gpi to the Heritage arrows too.

Personally, I think the Carbon Express arrows are not only the best value in carbons but the best overall carbons on the market.  Id be willing to say I feel they are all around the best ARROWS in general.  they have good weight bareshaft, very affordable, durable, accurate. What more could youi ask for?

I dont understand why some want a heavier shaft? I would rather have the lighter shaft and add weight to the point for a high FOC, which gets better arrow flight.

I shoot them both and it depends on the bow what I use. The GT 3555 for me shots a fair bit weaker than the CX 150s. The 3555 is also kind of short even full length. Not the best option for the longer draw lengths.

Most times I can't shoot the 3555. The 5575 jumps up a lot on dynamic spine. Most time I am either using the 150s with aluminum inserts our 5575 with brass inserts.

Both are real durable shafts, but the GT finish is as tough a nails. Also takes a lot of repeat heating changing inserts and I have lest issues with the finish coating when cutting them than with the CX.

Don't know to much about carbons. My only experience is with Gold Tips and I am liking them more all the time.  I to wanted a heavier shaft without the FOC don't know why really.  I guess shot 125 grian points for to long.  Anyway I just drop some 3/16" nylon cord inside the shaft and get the weight up.  Semms to work okay.

I personally do not like a high FOC. the arrow flight looks odd to me and I do not see any increased penetration. I would rather shoot my 500 grain arrow with 145 up front than a 500 grain arrow that has 250 up front.  

Thats just me though, I shot alums (and still do) for a long long time and its what I prefer.

I do have some 5575 with 100 gr brass inserts shooting 150 grain up front and they are nice, I am not saying that they aren't but if i was buying new arrows i will go with the CX heritage. I just ordered a doz CE 90s that at 30 1/4" fly beautifully with 145 up front.
