I must confess, I fell victim to the crutch.  You see two years ago I was told I was losing my hunting ground and I had one more year to hunt it.  Knowing there was one deer on the farm I wanted to kill I borrowed a friends wheels for one season.  I didn't end up shooting that deer and really never felt comfortable the entire season.  The weapon didnt make the hunter, the weapon just made him a little lazy I suppose.  I vowed I wouldn't do that again and shot consistently in the spring, learning to ride the bike again.  Then I found out my wife and I were going to have our first baby in the fall and the work to ready our lives took over.  I borrowed the wheels again not knowing how much time I had to hunt and wanted to make the best of the time I did get.  (translates into I didnt want to miss an opportunity at a buck because of my limited range).  Again failure, I missed my first ever shot at a booner.  Maybe I didn't deserve it because of my choice to cheat the hunt.  Well after the season was over I knew I needed to get back to my roots.  I got rid of the wheels and started looking for "my bow."  I found it here in the classifieds and snatched it up.  I ended up buying the Tomahawk Legacy from JamesKerr.  I Just got it today and had to run out and put some arrows through it.  Shoots great, my form is a little rusty and i am hitting high on most of my shots.  I need to get it tuned up with a set of arrows especially designed for her, but boy it felt good to get back into the groove.  

I hope to be back on the horse in time for our spring turkey season as I hope to kill my first bow bird this season, if and only if our little one will allow me the time to get after them this spring.

Any tips or techniques for getting back into the swing of things?

Dustin if I can help any just let me know. I had the bow shooting awesome with arrow dynamics trad shafts cut to 30" with the 100 grain brass inserts and 175 or 200 grain points. Total arrow weight was 650 grains fletched and everything. That arrow setup flew great from both sets of limbs for me (I have a 27.5" draw length). Again if you have any questions about the bow don't hesitate to ask.

Welcome back Bud. What I have been doing this winter and what seems to be working well is blind bale shooting in my basement. What I am doing is shooting from very close to the target with my eyes closed. This way I am taking the aiming out of the equation and am fully focused on form. Plus it bugs the hell out of my wife while she is upstairs watching TV and having to hear thump after thump as the arrow smacks the target. HA!

my wife makes me go out in the snow.  I think I need to clear out the bay of the garage and get something going in there, shooting in the snow kind of sucks.
