Here's one I built that is similar. The pattern of the flare just seems to be the natural way to go with these risers. god bless you , Steve

Not finished with my bow yet got a little shaping and finish to do yet.

Finished the above bow and her brother used a different insert to slim the ends of the riser .

Those are lovely. Really love the riser design.

Ok users of rear mounted limb bows. What do you like about them?  Are rear mounted designs more forgiving to shoot or is there some other differences in shooting qualities?
Instinctive gapper.

From my experience, (limited as it is) its tough to beat the pointability of the design. Maybe the guys with more experience will chime in.

I have been building ones like these for a few years now and have come to really like them.

Here are a few of the one johnnyk71 is talking about:

My last two: the one on the right has hard maple cores and a cherry PL, the new one on the left has Aboo cores and cherry PL.  You can see how the profile is subtly different.

The tips on the new one before final finish

BTW thanks Trux for posting that bow.  You can see how the design has evolved from that one.  The power lam makes a huge difference in profile.

Nice looking bows, and the grip looks very comfy!!! Kudos for keeping the grip a simple yet functional design.

Both look great. Which one draws smoother? Which perform better?
Instinctive gapper.

My first rear mounted bow was a gray Habu Bushmaster circa 1995-6...loved the bow, hated the gray color so sold it and bought one identical from Chris Cox in brown around 1999.

I carry it everywhere even though is a bit heavy in mass due to riser design but shoots like a dream...

I also have some vintage Browning's with forward mass risers with rear set limbs....the Explorer's and not sure if the Cobra counts but is a very riser forward design as well...similar to the Red Wing Hunter.  Here are a couple of them....also very sweet bows.

Rainy Day Bows makes a really nice bow.Great shooter !

Tell you the truth it's hard to tell. The maple one is 10lb heavier so speed is hard to tell as I haven't chronod the new one. Both have a good force draw curve drawing 2.5 lb per inch from 26-30". 31" it goes to 3.5lb and I have not drawn one past that. Both are pretty dead in hand tho the one made of massaranduba wood on right is noticeably heavier, way more than what I trimmed off the zebra riser for aesthetics could make up. The maple one is a bit quieter shot 3 under but equally quiet shot split.
