I have a 50th anniversary Kodiak Magnum 2011 50#@28".  What would be a good aftermarket string for this bow?  I have heard of some people saying certain strings can harm certain bows.

Is the fast flite like what is on a compound?

Fast flite is low-stretch string material. Can give better performance over the older B50 material which has

Nothing to do with compound or not, its just the material the string is made of.  Your KMag came out of the factory with a fast flite material string.

String makers will be happy to answer any questions regarding what you want out of an aftermarket string.

I personally use SBD bowstrings. Very happy with them. Like I said though, there are alot of good makers here. Check some out and ask any questions they will help ya out.

I have only been using strings made by OliverStacy for the past 3-4 years and really like them. Like above there are several good string makers on here that can help you out.

To answer your question, yes, just about all wheelie bows use some type of low-stretch string material these days, be it fast-flite, D97, D10, etc.

Lots of today's trad bows are made to use fast-flite type string material. Check out our Sponsor list and you will find several good string makers.

If you think you're going to stick with trad, I would recommend making your own.  You can make a string jig for next to nothing, and spools of string aren't too expensive.  Otherwise I've heard good things about Champion Custom Bowstrings (LBR), OliverStacy, and SBD.  All three sponsers here at TG.  There may be otheres, but those three seem to be the most talked about.

Forgot to mention 1st Class Flemish Strings.  I got a bow in a trade that came with one of his strings and it was very well made.

Yeah it'd be nice if Steve's (Flemish) turnaround time weren't so gosh darn long.
