Apparently this ad by Ben Pearson Archery from the 60's boasts about the speed of their new bow...I wonder how many deer were taken....quite a few probably...

Couldn't help but post this next photo. One of my favorites...that I never owned.

That's pretty cool.  The take down system of that model is awesome.

If my calculations are correct, that bow was flinging an arrow at 211 fps.  Of course it doesn't say what the weight of the arrow was unless it's there in the fine print someplace.

You're way off, Pete.  It's 210.24 fps.      :bigsmyl:    Oops, could be 211.168 of I do some rounding up. I think I'll go cut 1/64-inch off my carbons to get them in better tune with my bow.  He he he.

I own a bow like that takedown. It is pretty sweet  :)

Love the price! What does that equal now?

I remember the Take Down, but never saw one that fancy!

I had a take down like that, but, just like Ron, mine wasn't as fancy either.  Mine did stack a bit tho'.  Traded it away.  Horserod

chronographing technologies of 1959 left a lot to be desired.

No way that bow went that fast.

Oh, I beg to differ, sir.

You use a light enough arrow and just about any bow will shoot that fast, at least once!   ;)      :scared:

Plus, they could be drawing it 30" just to get that speed.   :saywhat:    :dunno:

Oldskool bought one of that model from a guy for $150 2 years ago in excellent condition. He got rid of it already though. I was able to shoot it a few times. Great bow!

High initial velocity! Catapult construction! Good one! What will they think of next?

Man, I'm livin' in the past. Did you see that price?

yup... in those days you could hit the gas station and fill up your rig with gas for $5.00 , and go to the store and buy a gallon of milk for .39 cents too....

The cost of a good second hand 22 rifle was $20 bucks.....but... minimum wage wasn't much over a dollar an hour in those days...

i rented my first apartment for $50 bucks a month and you could not put $50 worth of groceries in the trunk of a 59 ford, and that trunk was big enough to put 3 kids in it sneaking into the drive in movies.

Do they even have drive in movies any more?

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned the bow lengths (in the small bold print at bottom), at $75 each I'll take one of each, a 5'2", 5'6", and 5'8", and I'm not even a recurve guy...  :)
