Looks like a great day.  The Maine winter shoot is coming up in three weeks.  I doubt we will experience the same temps, though this winter, who knows.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

That would be something that I would like to do. Thanks for sharing.

Now for you that know Krista, you know she's a great shot (I told her I would let Sterling know how Phenomenal she is).  Well on the skating Possum ahem I mean Armadillo target (really fun target) I missed and drilled an arrow through the sheet tin that the skateboard rides on!

She gave me whats for on that shot and said ain't nobody ever missed and shot the tin before!  Proceeded to let me know she would help correct my shooting issued after the shoot   :bigsmyl:

This was one of Tommy very few bad shots...

he shot extremely well, but don't tell him he tends to let it go to his head

Bob it was a great day, gave this old man a little respite from the stress.

One additional picture was sent to me from Steve Pate who was there also, post up a comment Steve when you get a chance.

This young man James Nichols was there with his brother who had collaborated together to make the bow that James was shooting.

If I have it right it is made of Pecan with yucca plant backing and powered by recycled hay rope. He made a great shot on this running Hog target   :clapper:    :clapper:    :clapper:

I also believe it was his Birthday the day of the shoot, congrats James   :clapper:

Sterling Holbrook and I met this kids big brother several years back at the Moundville Native American  Festival. Gary was about the age James is now. He came to our Primitive Technologies  booth and asked good questions. Two years later he, and two friends showed up with nicely crafted Osage Self Bows. They cut their own wood, aged it, and followed the Bowyers Bible to make their bows. They still come every year to see us, and make us proud to have mentored a youth. I always wondered if we "make a difference"?  These young men gave me the answer I needed. I guess I will be there this year too, scraping on a stave, answering thousands of questions, and looking for a "keeper".

I believe this is Gary and James together listening to Sterling recitation of Russ Dixon memory.

Would have been nice to go to this shoot. I grew up hunting in coffeeville and still have family living there today. Could have visited and had a bow shoot. Nice pictures, maybe next year.

In fact Krista  and me were the only "Real" Tin's
