Had a great day at the Russ Dixon Memorial shoot in Coffeeville, AL, hosted by  Sterling and Krista Holbrook at their home.  The day was a perfect day for the shoot beautiful sunny skies, temps in the low 50's or so at around 10:00 and warming up to the high 60's low 70's by the end of the day.

Here's a few pic's from the day, and some of the activities that were going on.

Now that most of the deer seasons are over nows a good time to get out and have some fun, not that deer huntings not but as the season go on it start be like work    :knothead:    So get out there and flings some arrows find a shoot to go to and work on the that TP    :biglaugh:

Sterling saying a few word about Russ and the reason for the shoot very inspirational and you could sense his great admiration  for his friend.

Throwing the Hawk and Knives was a treat and Dustin (Sir, can't remember your last name) was great at giving a quick lesson.  I learned it's all about standing the right distance away.

Getting ready to eat,

I should've took some pic's of the food but I was to busy eating it! The menu had an assortment of food to try including Rabbit Liver, Rabbit Salad, and even Beaver (   :nono: )

A majority of the bows were self bows...

and it always amazes me the beauty and functionality of these hand crafted pieces of art, but deadly in the right hands.

Sterling and the group of volunteers who helped set up the course did a great job and spiced it up with an assortment of novelty and moving target.  I did not get enough pictures of all the different targets they had.   Here's one of a moving Spider...the object was to hit the red Hour glass for a kill wile it was swaying back and forth.

Along with this one there was the Martian that falls from space (shoot it before it hits the ground), running Boar, Skating Armadillo, Flying Duck, Hog Attack (true story behind this one)

The Flying duck (lower third near center of pic)

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

Awesome pictures and a great story.  With the wind chill at below zero this morning, those pictures make me long for warm days and shooting with friends.  Thanks for posting them!  :clapper:
