Hunting is such a crack up to me.  I have too many stories to share after 40 years of deer hunting and over 30 with the bow. . . this year was just too amazing, frustrating, and really funny.

Ok.  I posted this a month ago. . .http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=124669;p=1#000000

Dec 31 was the last day of our buck season here in KS. You can see the last hunt result!

So January found me on the redemption track of closing out my season hunting does in our January doe season. . . .   :banghead:

Fast forward a couple of weeks. . .  January 31st again- LAST DAY of our special KS doe season.  Hunting for does. . . Last hour. .   I hear deer coming.  I see legs.  Very cool.  Last hour doe in the making. . .   1st deer steps out- its a buck.  Not legal.  2nd deer- another buck.  3rd deer- another buck.  4th deer- another buck !!!!

Are you kidding me?  The last day and I just want a doe.  Four bucks under me- 15 yards.  All I can do is laugh.    :banghead:

2013 is a season of comical proportions.  A great story for the grandkids one day.

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

Hah, moments like that keep me in the woods as much as taking a deer does; one big old "are you kidding me?"

Your season sounds similar to mine.  I tagged out my buck tag late October and saw nothing but bucks in range the rest of bow season and I had two doe tags to fill!  I've never been so mad to see so many bucks in my life!

A couple of years ago in Illinois I shot my buck early in the week and had to hunt another four days before having an opportunity on a doe.  During those four days, all I saw was bucks and many.

The girls can be tough. Hunting unit 108 in WY in 2011 with brother lance.

Started 2 Sep.  We were in elk every morning and evening.  I missed 2 6 points, passed on 8 raghorns under 25 yards before killing a 6 on 16 Sep.  Brother Lance had a cow tag and could have shot 8 different 5 plus bulls.

In that entire time I never had a cow within 25 yards and Lance only did once.  He missed but did get one the 19th.

Cow elk are the real trophies.

Yep, that can be fun and frustrating!  I've been there many times. Buck tag is filled and I want a doe and all I see are small bucks. The good thing is I rarely see a buck that is bigger than the one I filled my tag with. Of course that mostly means that I see a lot of small deer!

Hey your out and enjoying the woods.  Next year you will be covered up with does during buck season.
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

That truly is hunting!!  Many of us would be blessed to see 4 deer on an outing!

Sounds like one of those seasons you'll always remember. Seems the unusual ones are the ones you never forget.

Here's to making memories!!!
