I bought 2 dozen Heritage 250 carbon express. what is the best way to add some  weight  to this shaft?

try putting on different weight heads that just may work for ya.      plus what the other guys said about cutting em

I have the 250 Carbon Express Heritage shafts. I'm shooting 55 pounds but it's at my draw length of 30". I left them full length and get good flight with a 175 grain tip. I cut three quarters of an inch off some of them and got better flight with a 200 grain,so they stiffen up pretty quick when cutting some off. If you leave them full length you will have pretty close to my set up. They sell points that are up to 250 grains,but I don't think you're going to need anything that heavy.

Be very conservative when attempting to tune a shaft to the bow.  I would not cut more than 1/4 inch at a time.  Shoot through paper (bareshaft) and remove as necessary.

Learned this the hard way.

I'm not sure your getting the answer your looking for. Your question was " what is the best way to add some weight to this shaft?"

If it is a tuning issue of course you would know to add more weight up front, or if you want a heavy tip to begin with, you would bare shaft with that amount of weight.

But, the way I'm reading your question, you just want to add some weight to the shaft it self to increase the grains per inch, you would do this with weight tubes, that fit inside the shaft. See  www.3riversarchery.com.

You're going to need to add point weight to get those arrows to shoot out of your bow.  Might start with a 100 grain brass insert. Then try various field points from 125 to 200 grains or so. I think you'll need to go quite heavy, about 300 grains total up front, maybe more.

The 150 to 200 grain weights are they the brass inserts?

I think they might weaken spine but not sure,you can try 100 grn brass inserts and start with 125 tip and work from there my guess is you will end up close to 275 grns of total weight up front and your arrow will be over 625 grns just curious why you would.want to add weight tubes? Nice bow by the way!

Oh and no way I would.cut those shafts until i bare shafted it to check flight and like others have said just a little at a time for.tuning

Since you are new I'd forget the tubes and concentrate on tip weight. Your options are brass inserts for the shaft, steel adapters for your heads and the head itself.

Don't be afraid to add weight up front. It helps in many ways.

You have the cadillac of bows. I shoot a 64 inch Dwyer at 60 pounds. 30 inch draw and 31 inch 250 with 175 grain point they fly like darts at 555 grains.   BILL

I've ordered some brass inserts and will try this out, You guys and gals are great! Dwyer sure is a nice bow, have not shoot mine much yet, but so far so good,  

The reason of wanting a heavy arrow is moose hunting,  I've guided guys with there over draw high speed wheel contraptions Arrows that weigh under 500 grn  , Have not seen many shoot throw a moose
Ive used my Jd berry long bow with a 70 pd draw weigh and a 700 grn arrow, its gone right throw 3 moose

Guided a guy from texas few year back, he had a 53 pd longbow, was shooting a 600 grn fir arrow with howard hill broad heads, At 23 yards he shot straight throw the moose and stuck the arrow in a tree  Believe his bow was a black widow

Field points $6/doz

I can never figure out why people are so eager to part with money.

You can buy almost three different weights of FP's for the price of one set of inserts.

shooting them full length  with 200 grn points shooting very nice. might try to cut one down a bit.  order some different weight field points to play with . Good advice on using points ,cuts cost 1/2

I shoot a similar setup.

With a 30" CX 250, I'm using the standard 11 gr insert and 250 gr. points.

You can add the weight by point weight only, or use brass inserts.  I don't use brass inserts very often, but I've got a pretty wide variety of points I use to meet my weight requirements.

Either way, I believe that should get you in the ballpark.
