I have a question on sharpening VPA 2 bladed heads, I bought a KME broadhead sharpener and am just waiting on snail mail for it to get here. My question is how do I sharpen the tanto tip on the VPA's?

After you finish sharpening the main blade, hold the  clamp  by the sides and intentionally rotate it until just the small tanto section is touching the stone. Use light, deliberate strokes. This is kinda free-handing. The jig will hold the angle but you'll need to keep the BHD in the correct position during the process. Using a magic marker to color the tanto frequently will show you where the blade is contacting the stone. The tanto needs to be sharp but not as sharp as the primary cutting edge. That's what does the real damage and causes the major hemorrhaging. Give me a call if you need help. Thanks!

I'm a sharpener by trade, using single bevel heads, and I freehand sharpen the tantos on a flat hone(not a machine you want to pay for, but you could do the same on a stone, if you can hold the angle.  I'll have to try your suggestion, Ron.  I do use your KME in hunting camp, and it is a real good tool.  

It's a little hard to visualize the centerline of the head on a 25 degree single bevel, but if you get the tanto right, the arrow will still spin perfectly to confirm broadhead alignment.
