I have a Stealth I bought second hand a while back and it came with two sets of limbs.  I hate changing limbs so I sent it in to Wes to build a second riser for my heavier limbs which at my draw length are about 81#.  I'll be getting the bow back next week but I talked to Wes yesterday. I was amazed to find out he took it upon his self to reinforce the limb tips because of my longer draw length and completely refinish the limbs at no extra cost to me.  That kind of service is great if your the original owner but to do that for me as a second owner is plain and simply top of the line customer service.  I can't wait to get my hands on it next week, kinda like a kid at Christmas.

Just ordered two Mentors from Wes last month. My first time dealing with him. After having several telephone conversations with him I am convinced that I made a good choice. Great guy to deal with for sure!

Yep great guy and he makes a great bow.
I was down in his neck of the woods a couple of weeks ago and went over to his shop and ordered a new partner from him.
Now the wait begins.

I have been fortunate and owed both a Mentor and a Stealth.  Unfortunately I was also stupid and sold them off.  Like you, I found him to be a super person.  I find his bows to be a classic design with great function.

A few years back I sent him my Royal. One of the tips came off. He replaced the tip and up dated them as well. He added another layer. I am the second owner and I think this bow dates back to the 90's. When I talked to him his comment was" my bows don't break". No charge to repair my bow. Like what has been said before, real customer service.

I forgot I had the same type of service on an 89 Brackenbury Drifter, built before Jim died but while Wes was working for him.  I noticed my string wasn't centered on the lower limb anymore and looke to be starting to twist a little.  I sent it to Wes and asked him to fix it expecting to pay him for the work.  When it was done and I asked what I owed he said nothing.  That impressed me alot.  I'm having him change the personalization on my other Stealth riser and for that he only asks that I pay shipping, you can't ask for more than that.

Wes offers some of the best customer service anywhere.  

Not long ago I showed him a Mentor I had purchased years earlier, and Wes thought it needed refinishing.  He did it as no cost with me only paying the shipping.  What a guy!

I have stated this before about Wes, I'll tell it again. He is the guy I went to for my go to bowyer for the very reasons you state. I had just purchased a new set of limbs for my Mentor, heavier and shorter as I bought the bow from **** or tradgang, can't remember. While changing the new limbs I was unstringing the old limbs while not paying enough attention to what I was doing. The string came around the limbs and cracked the glass and twisted the limb. I can't say how upset I was at myself. I called Wes the next day and explained what happened. He said usually they are good for one thing after that, (starting a fire) send them out to me for a look. 2 weeks later I had a package in the mail, my limbs, FIXED, all he charged me was shipping. He knew I would buy another set of limbs without question. Instead of charging me 450.00 for new limbs, he charged me 40.00 for shipping. I don't even remember if it was 40.00, could have been less. He's a great guy who takes pride in customer support. His epertise and workmanship world class. After buying and selling lots of bows I decided to concentrate on one bowyer's work so everytime I pickup one of my bows they feel familiar. This has helped me with my shooting. The performance is as good as any and better than most without the use of hi-tec materials. The beauty has always surpassed my expectations. I would design it in my mind, he would build it the way I wanted and always more than I expected for a reasonable price. He does deserve a shout out. There are many good bowyers out there, they would have to jump pretty high to pass the bar Wes has set for me.

Yep,One heck of a bowyer and a fine person.Only thing I can cus him for is a 68" longbow that he built for a friend of mine.Ever since he got that bow,he just been kicking my butt with it at will.It is one of the fastest,flat shooting longbows I have ever seen!SAmoooth,too.Cant go wrong with anything Wes makes.

Wes is a real gentleman and always he is been since I heard of him some 30 years ago!

You know something alot of younger guys don't realize is where Wes learned his trade and I think in part how to treat people.  If you don't know he started around 83 I believe working part time with Jim Brackenbury and I believe it was 85 when he went full time.  Any of you that ever talked to Jim and have also talked to Wes probably know what I mean. Jim was a great guy to deal with and extremely friendly.  The last time I talked to him was just a few months before his accident.  He was telling me about a 110# recurved he was building for Bo Jackson.  Jim was definitely taken from us too early and he was definitely one of the best.  I feel fortunate to have been able to deal with both Jim and Wes as they are both top notch guys.

I used to own a Royal, and mostly shoot longbows.  Not long ago, I purchased a Mentor on Tradgang.  Not only is it one of the most beautiful bows that I have ever owned; it is also such a smooth drawing bow and good shooter.  I am so impressed.
