I had just checked in my first deer,a doe (first deer has to be a doe in the early season), when my wife informed me that a long box came via Fed Ex for me. I knew it was my long awaited Acadian Woods one piece Carbon Reflex
I hurriedly hung my deer and packed the body cavity with ice,I couldn'nt wait to get a good look at that bow! I had been hunting with a Palouse static recurve for the past 7 or 8 years and had taken quite a few deer with that bow and was basically happy with it. But, on the other hand I had drooled over Tim Mullins' bows, they,re  gorgeous!
About 11 months ago I figured What the heck,I ain't getting any younger--go for it,so I called Tim and ordered the bow-52# @28" -62 "long, cocobolo riser and torched bamboo limbs. Eleven months later I had my bow.
I called Tim that night and told him how happy I was with the looks of the bow , I guess I sounded like a little kid at Christmas! I also remember telling him that I just knew it would shoot great
The next day I took care of the deer , then the following day I set up the bow. It didn't take much. After shooting 20 -30 arrows and raising the nocking point a bit, I was ready to go!

Then I added the Thunderhorn quiver

Four days after my first deer I'm back in the woods with my new bow. Nothing in the morning, but at night a little before 7 pm this guy comes out of the swamp and gives me a broadside shot at 17 yards!!---

the deer piled up at 75 yds but I didn't see it go down,so I waited 30 mins. and followed.
took this picture the next day

After it was all over it seemed so surreal-here I was with a new bow ,first day ,first shot and get the biggest and best deer of my 43 years of bowhunting- 8pts- 180 lbs dressed. I had gotten deer with more points but never this size. Deer just don't normally get this size where I hunt
The next day I called Tim Mullins again and told him the story,he sounded as excited as I was for me.
You know, if I had scripted this hunt I wouldn't change a thing!!

Congratulations that is a neat story. I love the short hair on that early season coat.  It would make a beautiful mount.  Chad

Way to go! Don't see many bucks like that in NJ. With the kind of pressure ya get there, most are nocturnal once they get a couple years old.
I will give thanks to the LORD because of his righteousness and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.

It doesn't matter how or what you shoot, as long as you hit your target.
