There are a bunch more photos and a write-up of my initial impressions on the Hill Longbow thread:

Nice bow for sure! So far I like my Classic, still have to put some photos up on the Hill thread... and still have to figure out the arrows!
Enjoy

Beautiful bow in beautiful country....

I sure miss the Mat-Su Valley  :(  Walks along the Chugach were great in summer and early winter. Snow was too deep for me when real winter finally set in.

Great bow Chuck!!

I'm liking it here, too, though I miss hunting the Sitka Blacktails in SE Alaska.

When were you up here, Bud B.?

David: I too really like my Classic. I'd like to try a Shelton sometime for comparison.

Anchorage...85-88 USAF Elmendorf. Lived on Orange Leaf Circle backed up to Fort Richardson. Bunny hunting in the snow was a blast. We used to go near Palmer at the tip of the arm as the highway curved north to go to Wasilla from Anchorage.

Both of my daughters were born at the base regional hospital some 25 plus years ago....

The Misty Dawn is one fantastic bow just like all of is bows. For a hill type bow it is one sweet shooting bow I am sure your going to enjoy it. James really does no is stuff when it comes to building a sweet shooting bow. I guess that comes from doing it for 33 years now. You can see by the workmanship he puts into is bows that he cares about the finished product. James is a pleasure to talk to and you can tell he knows is stuff when you do. Enjoy your new bow and happy shooting.

This my first bow from James. I'd like to try a Vixen, too, though I think I need a td Hill style bow first.

I was going to ask if you lived close to James, but decided to check your profile first. No wonder you know a lot about James and his bows!

Yes, I'm really enjoying it. I'm still fine tuning it. At it's current state of tune, I need to be very careful or I'll start busting arrows. It shoots that good!

Great looking bow, Chuck!  In the Hill thread you had a pic of the Misty Dawn and NM Classic grips side by side...now that you had a chance to spend more time with the Berry, any thoughts on the grip comparison you'd care to share?

Andrew,

They both work for me, but the Misty Dawn grip does seem to just fall into place. I need more time going back and forth between the two to see if there is any difference in my shooting. So far, I think I'm shooting both equally well.

Between poor weather, and the early darkness in the evening, I haven't shot the Misty Dawn nearly enough! We are gaining about 5 mins. of daylight a day, or about 32 mins. per week, so soon, I'll be shooting till I drop!

Have posted photos of your new bow?

akbobowbender yes I do know James, lol. I have seen is very first bow he built to the last one that went into the mail. I usually have coffee at is house every morning and he will show me the latest bow  he has been working on for that week. He will go through detail about the bow, the woods and what the customer is looking for in is bow. That is one of the reason's I know he cares about the finished product. James and I were building bows together for a few years. I have been shooting archery for 41 years, James 43 years together that's 84 years. Wow that really makes me feel old, lol. There's not to many of the old time bowyers left, who learned from try and error. By all means James isn't getting rich building custom bows he does it because he loves what he is doing. To bring that bow to the morning coffee table with a smile on is face to show me is work. Take care and happy shooting.

Well I'll just add that I have a Vixen on order from James and I am really thrilled!  She will be 66" 52@28.  Chechen riser, bamboo cores and yew faced limbs!
I went back and forth in thinking about the Misty Dawn and the Vixen... but in the end I went with the Vixen.
I can't wait!

JW,

I'd like to try the Vixen too. Sure like my Misty Dawn, so I'm in no hurry!

Yeah, I hear you Chuck... Honestly, I am sure the choice between the Vixen or the Misty Dawn is a big win either way - just a slightly different feel.  Mr Berry's bows are awesome.  I would actually love the chance to shoot the Misty Dawn some day (but I'm kind of scared too as I'm sure I would get it in my mind that I had to have one of them too! - LOL)
I'll post some pics when my Vixen comes in.  I am hoping in March.
