With Dave being from right there in the Heartland of our nation it would be a nice name.

I LOVE my Dave Johnson longbow.

I talked to Dave today and got on his list.  I am number 8.  Can't wait.  I haven't figured out a name for mine either.  I started naming my bows after my favorite hunting places.  Not sure which place to name this one after yet.

Hatrick

Ric, did you happen to get brown glass on the back of that bow? That looks like to combination I spoke to Dave about. I'm also on his list but not completely decided on the glass and riser combo.

Great video.  Thanks for posting that Nick.  I've seen it before and watching it gave me the itch to have a Dave Johnson longbow.  So glad that he's building them again.  You can tell from the video just how cool of a guy he is.  Old school for sure.

Good luck with yours Brazos.  The wait won't be too long.

Dave,
Yes the glass on this bow will be brown on the back with a white belly. Thought the brown glass would go good with the imbuia.

Nick,
I watched that video several times and then called Dave with the order for my first bow.

That's going to be yet another beautiful bow Danny.  Can't wait to see it and hope your wait isn't too much longer.

Yep,Old school is the way to be.
I thought about buying one of Dave's Cedar bows back in the day, wish I did.His bows, along with a couple other bowyers from the 80's and early 90's,are one my list of bows to have.
All of the bows I have were built then, except one.It was built in 1970.
You guys on his list are going to get some great bows!

Hatrick

Thanks, Ric. I was hoping it was brown glass. That will match up real well. Sure hope you post some pictures once you get that beauty in your hands. Maybe a little performance review as well?? That's an awsome looking piece of Myrtle he has in that riser.

Brown glass is my favorite. Good choices Danny, but that is no surprise comming from you. Id like to shoot just one round with Danny and I'm sure I could learn more in one round with him than a lifetime of shooting could provide. Great bow for a great archer

Brian,
Thank you for the kinds words. Perhaps we will shoot together sometime and the honor and pleasure will be all mine.    :)

Well folks, I've traded a few emails with Dave and the new bow has been named. It will be know as......you know what? I think I'll wait until the bow arrives and post pictures of the finished bow and reveal the name at that time. Thanks for all the input from those that posted names here an via all the PMs I received.

I am glad you finally named your bow.  There are a a handful of us waiting on Dave to build our bows!  I am excited about mine.  I have him building a 40# @ 27" bow that will be 66" long.  Currently I have him loosely copying the "Robert Taylor" bow he has a picture of on his website.  I believe I am going to name mine "Roddie Ranch" which is a deer lease I ran in Brady, TX for about 10 years.  I would like to know more about Dave Johnson bows.  For example is it ok to us FF strings, if so what do you suggest?  What kind of brace height seems the norm?  Do any of you with Dave Johnson bows shoot 3 under?  I told him I wanted it tillered 3 under and he seemed perplexed.  We talked about it but got the impression he had never tillered 3 under before.  Great guy.  I enjoyed talking to him and am ready to get my bow!
