Hey guys actually joined up almost a year ago but, hadn't yet secured a bow. Been lurking ever since and due to funds never quite found one. Anyway after some creative trading I wound up with a strange sort of recurve. It's the Martin Saber which has a compound type rise. Weighing 55lbs it's a little heavier than I wanted and not quite the trad bow i was thinking of but, it'll do for now. Expect lots of questions. thanks guys.

I shot a Groves Spitfire Mag II recurve, which has a metal Proline compound bow riser, for years. Took a fair number of Sitka Blacktails with it. Take a look at my profile photo for the largest one I took. I'm sure your Saber will be fine for honing your skills while you search for the "right" bow.

Congrats, and welcome back to Tradgang.

Jake,

What sort of bow were you looking to find?  Longbow, recurve, selfbow?  Maybe someone on here has a few too many bows.  Are you a lefty?  What weight are you thinking?

I'd really like one of the hybrid long bows. After seeing me shoot my wife and kiddo want in which I think is really cool so i am thinking of selling my old honda motorcyle to fund a few bows and maybe a set up to make my own arrows. Been looking at those omega bows in the 45lb range seem to get rave reviews. I am right handed. Me and the kiddo (she's 5) are gonna get one of those little youth bow numbers and maybe a smaick sage for my wife but not sure. Unfortunately there are no archery shops around me that carry much in the trad department.
