You told me it was: an official Red Ryder, carbine action, two-hundred shot range model air rifle!
With a compas in the stock and a sun dial!!!

Intersting.  I think the kinetic energy of a good arrow out a a bow at teh highe end of the 50# range bow is devastating on all but teh biggest animals toughest bones.  Was that a deer, looked like a big shoulder blade?
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Just curious were the shoulder blades removed from the critter and shot or were they still attached with hide and hair?

My setup is very similar 56#@ 28 FMJ 400 125 gr Stinger 4 blade.Deadly combo.

Those stingers are deadly heads. What's interesting is the results from the grizzly. I did some testing with some late last year and got similar results. I did not get any big bone splits like everyone talks about and every time you shot one into bone the edges would curl over.

Mine was alive when that was shot. I believe the other was as well.

If the arrow stayed in the animal, then the shaft could have done that as the animal ran/thrashed or whatever...I had a similar shot with a wensel woodsman a few years ago and it made a hole like that too - and I assumed at that time it was from the shaft staying in the animal...
