For all of those hunting in plaid' camo' this season or solid colors how did it turn out? Always see guys asking about it. Esp those tryin the asbell wool. How did things go and what was your conclusions? Or post your pics.

I have an Asbel 'evening stand' pull over that I never took off during the Colo bow season. Worked great..  I had Deer, elk and bears that were all fooled by it.  (got busted a few times too, of coarse)

It works, at least as well as 'real' camo, and maybe even better. I have used it for the past couple of seasons for deer and turkeys with no perceived difference between it and the commercial stuff.

I have found same to be true also. This time of year I end up wearing old red black plaid sometimes. No problems

brown plaid, grey plaid, red plaid always works for me

I used asbel evening stand brown and timber
ghost this year and thought it worked great.
You won't catch me dressed in "tree" patterns
anymore

I used Asbell Evening Stand Green & Evening Stand Brown with great results... I'm sold on the way it breaks up my outline, absorbs light & doesn't reflect or glare. I just plain blend in & I like it! Doesn't hurt that the Asbell garments are exceptional in everyway while looking cool! If you want to see how well it worked this season, I've got plenty of pics in this thread...:

Not moving and being down wind makes about any "camo" effective.

I quit wearing camo for deer hunting a few years back. Just seemed overpriced and unnecessary for anything but turkey hunting. I usually wear earth tone solids and plaids. I haven't noticed any difference. This season i had a spike walk by quartering towards me, about 10 yards away, while i was on the ground. I believe movement and especially wind are the critical elements.

I agree 100%. I've been using Asbell wool for years and when I've peen picked off it was because I was caught moving.

I've worn an Evening Stand Green pullover quite a bit the last two seasons with good results (for example, I had a group of 5 does + yearlings bust me crossing a road recently at about 50 yards; I froze, they looked me up and down and kept on walking while I continued my mime impression of 'Dumb Hunter Crossing Road in Freezing Cold').  I've also worn a number of solids too though with similar results; I think it has more to do with me wearing wool almost all the time nowadays, I really think it helps a lot with blending into various lighting conditions where synthetics can tend to stand out.

I've worn the Evening Stand Green the last couple seasons and have had more than my share of close encounters . Coyotes ,bear,deer,  the best part about these pullovers are that they are warm as well as hiding my heavy bottom.  I hunt mostly in self made ground blinds and the plaid pullover just hides me! I need all the help I can get and this works. Maxx

I have a old green and black wool shirt I where alot in the early season.I have had real go luck with it.

Got to admit I was a little worried about some colors but after having deer within 6 to 8 yds. on the ground me with nothing in front just back cover I'm a beleiver, still trying to get it done but be it my Christmas colored plaids, my asbell wool or blaze orange stormy kromy cap, if not accomplished will not be able to blame on wool plaids!!!

Back to the surface... Because I'm about to order some asbell

I've got three Asbell pullovers and they always end up not the top layer..So I bought a Little Sew & Sew sewing machine..electric foot petal and all..had to fork out all of $26.50 for it from walmart..came with accessories and electric scissors. I bought 3 24" long heavy duty brass zippers and sewed them in my pullovers. Perfect..will be wearing some plaid camo this year.

It worked well for me.  I will be using it more and more as my camo wears out.

Don't know if she will still do it, but Theresa allowed me to special order a longer than normal (by. .  ? 9" ? or so) pull over (in evening stand brown).  I slit the sides up for that full extra length so I can get it on and off easier and bend easier.  I LOVE it. It cost a bit more, but not that much and I got what I wanted.  Can't go too wrong that way.
