After 3 years of doe, turkey and hog killing and many great encounters and some lost bucks i have finally gotten one. It is really a long story but i will condense down to a few paragraphs i hope..

My buddy(wheelie hunter)and I had hunted his place alot this year in the hopes of killing a big deer. Well this time of year is rut down here in MS and they are running pretty good. After hunting Sat morning and not seeing a whole lot we decided to scout. Well from 11 to 2 there were does running rampant all of them had bucks behind them. So we decided to post up that evening and try again. To no avail the movement was good but not great.
So we get back to camp and discuss hunting on Sunday. I told him that if he wanted to go in the morning to let me know. I had a party Sunday Pm and was not able to make it. He said he was going to call and let me know if he could go that morning.
My phone rings at 9:30 sat night and he says he wants to go and after all of the mid day activity he wondered if we should wait until 9 or so. After deliberating this mid day hunting we both decided that we were not programed to hunt like that because we feel like we are missing something.
We decided to meet 7am instead of 5 like normal. Driving out there were deer running everywhere. Needless to say we both felt like amateurs at the time.
So we get to camp and he decided to go to one place and i to another. I got set quickly at 740 and at 9 had seen only one spike. I had been waiting for an update text from him since 740 but had not gotten anything in a hour until 845 when he finally text me. He had got to 2 different spots and deer were already under his tree. Finally after getting set in a 3rd he was all up in the deer action. It was now 915 and i was getting frusturated. So i decided to relocate at 930 am. I made it to another area and decided to post up and got set at 1040.Irritated because i was hot and my buddy was still seeing deer.
I found a tree, the only tree in this patch of hardwoods surrounded by pines that i could climb that was right with the wind that i had to hunt where I "thought" the deer were going to come from. Well at 11 i dosed off and at 11:10 i woke up and looked to my left at 60 yds and this buck was meandering towards me slowly. I could not believe it. He was actually going to walk by at 20 yds. Well he made it to 25 and started angling away.

I lightly grunted with my mouth and drew.... he kept walking.
he walked behind another tree and i grunted lightly and drew... he kept walking. This time he started angling away and stopped checked wind . I drew again and he immediatly turned and started angling toward me. At this point i am mentally exhausted but have surprisingly settled my heart rate from 200 down to about 75 still in disbelief that this massive buck was now at 18 and closing.
He is angling towards me still and gets to 15 yds still walking i once again grunt lightly and drew... He kept walking.
Now he has closed to within 12 steps and this time i knew it was getting rediculous. I picked out an opening of which i was going to make my shot.
He walked and passed the sapling, i grunted louder and he stopped finally while i hit full draw.... Release and watched the arrow disappear behind shoulder.
Saw him run 30 yds and fall over.
It took everything in my power to not only stay in my tree but to keep my week old Cheyenne(thanks to LONGBOWLOGAN) in my hands.
He scored right at 150 as a 10 point with 2 stickers. 6 7/8 inch bases.
First deer with Cheyenne as well as first buck with Traditional Gear. Sorry for the long story but it was one of the most unbelievable situations i have ever been in. Enjoy the pics.
