On December 3rd I called up Dan and pestered him with questions regarding his 62" Whip HS. After a night sleeping on it, I called him up at the end of the day December 4th to place my order.

Fast forward only 10 days, and there is a notice from the post office stuck to my door. The next morning I picked it up and was happily surprised with this beauty.

Dan hit the weight perfect and steered me right when I told him my wood preferences.

I've owned plenty of Dan's bows over the last few years, but this just might be the prettiest. Very smooth and quick also.

Total weight is about 19 ounces and she's nearly 3" shorter (when strung) than my 64". That is enough to definitely make a difference in a tree or pop up.

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

She is indeed a beauty Jeff. What wood is your riser, I'm guessing Myrtlewood on the veneers? Regardless, congratulations and again she's a beauty.

Zircote, and you're right about the veneers

Thanks.  Wan't sure I'd be happy with a 62, but after speaking with Dan I'm glad I listened. Really enjoying it.

How's the HS vs. Old style.  I draw about 29" too and always thought the 62" was a touch short, but have yet to try the HS.

That is a gorgeous peice of Zircote. I have a 62" H.S. Classic Whip with a Zircote Riser and Marblewood Veneers. Besides being easy on the eyes, it is as fine a shooting bow as I've ever shot. I know you will enjoy yours, did I mention it is a beauty?

I'm drooling worse than my dogs do while they watch me eat a roast beef sandwich.  Beautiful bow!

It's been a while since I've shot a 62 and it was a bit heavier so I can't make a great comparison. Dan tells me the new design is a bit faster and smoother, while accomodating a bit longer draw.  I draw 29" and can't tell a difference from my 64 except that the 62 HS is probably a little quicker....still smooth and well mannered like the 64

Awesome looking Whip.  Great choice of woods.  I've heard that the HS has a little more preload on the draw, would you agree?  I too draw 29" and am hovering between the 62 HS and a 64 original.

After shooting them side by side over the last few days, I think you'd be happy with the 62 HS.  You're probably right about the preload, but I can't tell a big difference.

That is a beautiful bow - best wishes for your success in using it.
