I'm thinking of getting the hoodie to use as a outer layer in early season and a mid layer for late season. I think the fleeced poly will keep me warm. I'm also a fan of hoods. Anybody have one of these? What do you think of it?

waknstak IL

I bought 1 3 years ago on sale and liked it so much I asked for another for Christmas. They are a little expensive but well worth the money. Warmer than a normal hoodie and they wick sweat well. I have worn and washed these hoodies to death and they still look like new. I use it by itself in early season, with a layer underneath mid season and under a wooltimate jacket when it get get really cold.

I have a couple of the under armour hoodies the new stormcloth is nice it beads the water off in a light rain, they are very comfortable a little pricey. I like them but i wouldnt use it for my outer layer unless it was 50 degrees or warmer.

JMO...Overrated & overpriced.  Wool will outperform in every way.

Over priced IMO and not very effective.

agree with above way over priced

The cold gear socks are great, but as for the other stuff im not a fan. I like polar tech fleece in the 300 weight.

I have their hunting camo winter gloves, don't care for them at all.

I dont care much for the Under Armour hoodies. I dont like the cuffs on the sleeves and I think the sleeve get bound up on my elbows and forearms when I draw my bow.

Sports hype. Its okay, but all marketing to get price up. It doesnt compare to merino and others for hunting.

Im with Yornoc!Real men wear a G.Fred Asbell pull over hoodie with no shirt and like it.Just jokin around. Its good stuff, and Im not argueing with Ray Lewis abpout it.

My hoodie stinks as a hunting garment. Its cold when its cold and too hot when its warm. Ifs fine for sitting around the house.

I agree with Macksdad 100% on the cuffs.

raghorns

I have some and I'm not impressed.

I have three under armour shorts of light, medium weight, and heavy weight.  They are my backups if I have no other clean base layer clothing to wear.  They hold moisture much longer if I sweat than wool, thin fleece, or various poly base layers.  I have an under armour balaclava I like but I won't buy anymore for use as a base layer.  Too many other products that work better for much less money.

I have the hoodie-- I use it as a heavy base layer under wool when it's between say 20-45 degrees. Works well for that, and the hood is a good feature which I use a lot. As an outer layer, it doesn't offer much warmth and you will definitely perspire when it's warm or you exert yourself. Next to the skin is best. Now, if somebody can explain to me why polyester is this expensive I'd love to hear it. Only buy it on STEEP discount, end of season.

Preston Lay

One observation I have made is the stuff gets stinky, very quickly. Its very comfortable wearing under a bullet vest in heat but before the end of a shift you can smell it from feet away. However, I can wear merino wool in similar conditions and theres no odor, even after days of wear without wash. Not too much a problem if can wash daily but on a backcountry hunt, I never wear the skin layer synthectics.

BlackDog

Any poly stuff will stink eventually. The pull over hoodie is not that great a fit as far as pulling your bow with it on. I have the Ayton jacket (non-hood) and pant and it is good gear. Wore it for a week elk hunting and like it. The Ayton jacket with the hood has slick poly material on the sleeves that will make some noise, just fyi.

Iron Man2

It looks good on TV and Hunting shows...expensive and not really that good.
