I'd like to start trying to build my own wood arrows, is there a "kit" containing everything needed to get started with this that someone could recommend?

thanks, Dan

I just finished researching this.  Rose City Archery has a starter kit for $144  http://www.rosecityarchery.com/RCA_Assembly_Kits.htm

I wanted to select different items so I ended up getting everything but the arrows from 3rivers for just over $100.
Here was my list...
ID            Item Name   Shipped Qty
0138   11/32 Classic Nocks, DZ - WHITE   1
0138-10   11/32 Classic Nocks DZ BLACK   1
0138-7   11/32 Classic Nocks DZ RED   1
01L1   5" Shield LW Mini barred DZ - Traditional Barred   1
01L1-2   5" Shield LW Mini barred DZ - Red Barred   2
4080-1   Traditional Only Taper Tool 11/32   1
4081-1   Bohning Pro-Class Fletching Jig LW   1
5384   Bohning Feather Tape   1
5491   Hot Melt, 10" stick   1
F11-T   11/32 Glue On Field Point Test Kit   1
F141   Glue-On Points 11/32" 145gr (dz)

For arrows I choose Douglas fir from surewood shafts (surewood shafts.com).  This is my first go at wood arrows so I ordered the test kit.  They were really helpful on the phone helping me select the right test kit.  $39

So with taxes and shipping I'm into it about $160.  My wife's Christmas present to me!    :biglaugh:

Good luck!

Thanks guys, the shopping list and the tutorial should get me going! Nice stuff in the tutorial, Mr. DeStefano.

Just so your warned thats how I started years ago wanting to make my own arrows. That lead to strings, wild turkey fletching, taxidermy, TD recurves and knifes! It's addicting rolling your own stuff! You've been warned!
Most people get rich by making more money than they have needs, me, I just reduced my needs!

That's funny LC!  I just tanned my first deer hide and now I'm going to try as make a back quiver with it for my son... I'm afraid your warning is too late!     :jumper:

Finished my first woodie last night, I may never go back to carbon. Thanks to all for the input, including Rob D's tutorial and video. The Surewood shafts were great.

corrected, Dan
