Recently purchased a Whip from the classifieds and need a quiver. I have a few back quivers but really think I want a bow quiver.

While I haven't shot the bow with a bow quiver... I have trouble manuevering through the brush with any other type.

What's your recommendation? I think 4 arrows are plenty for my type of hunting.

On the Whip you can't beat the Great Northern strap on model. Get the adjustable model, they work great.

I have a Kanati 4 arrow model on my Whip.  I prefer to not use a bowquiver, but hunted with it on all this past fall for the same reasons you stated.  The Kanati added good mass to this ultra light weight bow and actually made the bow quieter.

I have an EFA on my Whip and it is light in weight and solid on the bow...great quiver!

I find it incredible that a Toelke could be any quieter than it started out!   :eek:

Glad you asked this question, I grabbed one of Dan's bows from inventory, should be here next week. Did Dan mention whether to get the adjustable one or the fixed length model?

The fixed length is 9" and the adjustable one goes from 10-17 or so. I think I saw a fixed length on one once and it looked to small on the riser

I have Whips and the GN is a great quiver.
But that is all I use on all my bows!

Just outfitted Dans nicest to date 64" xx whip with a rawhide Selway. This is a lot lighter than the rubber coated one. I'm putting rawhide Selways on both my Toelke bows. Both made in Montana. I'm putting my GN on my Gregg Coffey bow,  both made in Michigan. See the trend!

I tried a few, including ones mentioned above, and found them to be too heavy for my liking. The Whip is a light bow so I wanted a light quiver....I've settled on an EFA.  I highly recommend it.

If you get the GN adjustable like on my pic. Get a small piece of black shrink tubing and place it between the two rubber stops. When you get the length that you want, heat it up and it will help hold those metal bars tight. That's what I did up there in the pic.

I was going to add that but figured that Whip shooters would get the intended pun!  Quietest R/D bow I've shot.
Tzolk:  You're killing me... I saw that XX Whip in Dan's inventory and had a serious itch... if someone asks me my wish list of bows I'll just refer them to your stable.  You got great taste in bows man.

Advantages and disadvantages to these quivers:

Advantage Selway rawhide:  is it is SOLID on the bow. No moving at all! Even when you poke an arrow into the top piece. It quiets bows well also but I cant really tell on this whip. Loaded with 5 arrows it is not awkward with unbalance. I tried a Selway strap-on and while it was very nice, I did not like the bending effect of the top piece when you drove an arrow into it. Too flexible until you put a couple of arrows in it. I had a rubber coated Selway and the heavier coating on the top piece made it feel more unbalanced.

Disadvantage: You have to unstring the bow to remove it.

Advantage GN: Nice one piece that holds arrows well and you can switch it between bows without unstringing. Or take it off in the field and hang it in a tree etc.
Disadvantage GN: A little springy on the bow. Especially with Dans beautifully narrow limbs, the rubber gripper doesnt have a lot of surface area to stabilize itself compared to flat bows or recurves. My GN fit better on my Java Man recurve with its wider limbs. But this could be just nit picking on my part. It is a great quiver.

If you want a solid quiver, look towards the more solid mounting slide on types. The removable types Ive tried all had a little wiggle to them.

Buy one of each and also a side quiver like an Arrowmaster. Gear up.

I don't have experience with the GN or the Selway, but I have an EFA 3-arrow on my Whip; can't say if it is better or worse, but I can definitely say you wouldn't be disappointed.  Very light, doesn't interfere with shooting, doesn't cause any unnecessary noise, easy on/off, looks great.

You all must have not heard me the first time.  Thunderhorn small fry lynx...lol
