I am going to build a bow rack and need some feedback.

Which way is better?

I guess it depends on what you like, 15 of mine are hanging vertical 2 are horizontal.

MW

I heard that standing them on end can hurt them.

Is there any truth to this?

Mine hang vertically, by the string, on pegs.

MW,

Standing them on end for a long time can warp the limbs. hanging them by one end, on the other hand is ok.

Great, thank you for the responses

I don't think you can hurt a longbow by standing it on the tip, but a high-strung hybrid or recurve can be hurt pretty quick.

Mine are a mix.  I usually hang em vertically for bulk storage, horizontally for presentation.

Good point Jeff the more curve the strung or unstrung bow has the faster proping them in a corner could hurt them.

Here's one I made for myself, based on a picture I saw on the internet somewhere...  I'm no furniture maker, but it turned out okay, I think.  I think the bows are prettier horizontal.

Holds five bows unstrung, or three strung, and 29 arrows.
