hi guys i was just wondering whether i can get a one piece longbow with a recurve type grip. also i can find one will i be able to shoot ibo competion with a longbow with this grip?  thanks fer any info.  Rodney

Have a look at Bob Morrison's Shawnee, I'm sure Bob can make you the grip you desire. As for IBO rules, someone with that knowledge will have to answer that one for you.Give Bob a call he's a great guy to deal with and he's also in Ohio.

thanks hunt it   bob's only about 1 1/2 hours away from me  i know you have to shoot wood arrows in ibo longbow competion i just don't know about the grip

I love this bow.  The shelf is cut to center, the bow has a recurve grip and it is super fast with no hand shock whatsoever!

Bow – One piece, or two piece take down.
Other regulations same as current IBO longbow rules:
A longbow shot with fingers directly contacting the bowstring using a glove, finger tab, or bare fingers, Archers may use up to two (2) nock locating devices, but they must use the same nocking point and anchor point for each shot and the index finger must contact the string in the same place for each shot. The index finger must touch the nock of the arrow. Face and/or string walking are not permitted. No sighting device of any kind may be used. There shall be no markings on the bow or bowstring (intentional or accidental) that could be construed as sighting marks. No type of draw check or clicker may be used. Arrows shall be made of wood and shall be identical in length, weight, and color (allowances shall be made for normal wear). Arrows shall be shot off the hand or shelf of the riser. Shoot from the Orange stake. A longbow shot in LB shall conform to the following specifications: 1. The bowstring, when the bow is strung, may only contact the nocks of the bow. 2. The riser should be cut no closer than 1/8 inch to the outside of the centerline of the bow, however, if a riser is cut less than 1/8 inch to the outside of the centerline of the bow, a pad may be added so that the arrow rests on a surface no closer than 1/8 inch outside the centerline of bow. 3. No stabilizers, counterbalances, or weights of any kind may be attached or built into the bow; except a bow quiver clearly designed to hold arrows. 4. A longbow may have a draw weight of up to 90 pounds (measured at the face edge of the bow at the arrow shelf at 28 inches draw).

Doesn't mention the grip style .

I think you can compete in IBO with a bow like that however it would be in a different class.look up IBO.net. there is a guy on tradgang that may be able to help you.I think he goes by batman an his name is don ,good shooter real nice guy.he had helped me a little in the past with questions I had about IBO.

Fox royal crown would be the bow I'd suggest sir your needs.

The main problem with many modern longbows would be the "Riser should cut no closer than 1/8 to the outside of the centerline"-eliminates all the modern R/D bows I'm familiar with; and I guess that was done deliberately-not griping, just saying.

it happens to be a nice bow too and the 3 piece is identical to the one piece except for 4 bolts on the back of the riser!

hey had to get off here for a while today but i'd like to thank all of you for your help. I can always count on the guts from the gang to help me out. I really want to get a longbow but do it with as little change from my grip as possible (heavens know it took me a long time to get it down lol)  thanks again for the responses

Take a look at the Tomahawk Legacy series bow. It does not have a true recurve style grip but it is the most comfortable grip I have ever shot with.

St. Joe River Bows makes what you are looking for.    

Oops sorry didn't see you were looking for a one piece bow. I would recommend either a Black Widow Pl or Tomahawk diamond series and see about getting the grip custom made.
