Been hunting with my girlfriend lately, tryin to get her a deer. We sat this morning without seein much besides a small buck chase a few does through the alfalfa fields. We were thinkin about gettin out for some lunch around 10:30 when she looked behind us and saw a real nice 8 point about 20 yds away headed right in our direction, I said stay calm and wait til he gets past us to shoot. Well the staying calm part went out the window for both of us becuase he nearly got in our natural ground blind with us! By far the closest I have been to a deer literally a step and a half away. The crazy thing is that he looked right at us and just kept on walking! She tried to draw but he was so close I whispered he would see you and by the time he got past us enough he was in some brush and she couldnt get a clear shot, She was pretty upset; this is her first year hunting whitetails. But it was still a cool story, and I told her she better get used to stuff like that if she wants to be a deer hunter (especially Trad)

Opposite story - it's my first year seriously hunting white tails and have been dragging my boyfriend along with me to sit. Rattled some antlers and not five minutes later in rolls a buck with a second right on his heels! One circled around behind us and the second circled around the front. Even though they only got within 30 yards or so I thought I was gonna fall over from the nerves!

Gotta keep at it! It's so encouraging to see them coming around!

Happemings like that are part of why I love this trad thing so much!
