I love my Abbott recurve, but the brace seems abnormally low and I don't want to damage it. It is settled in at 6" right now and I can twist the stock string on it anymore because the top loop is too small to slide any further down the top limb when its unstrung. Is this brace height acceptable or should I make a new string with a larger top loop that will allow a shorter string? Been trying to get ahold of Steve but I haven't had any luck. Hopefully one of you fellow trad hangers can help me out. Thanks

McDave

I'm sure that 6" is too low. I'm not sure what it should be, but probably at least 7 1/2". You need a new string.

That's what I'm thinking, its just wired that Steve would make a string for this bow that doesn't fit right.

6" seems awful low.  Surely you don't have the string on with the wrong loop on the upper limb.  Could it be that the center serving was put on wrong in relationship to upper and lower limb?  Don't ask why I would suspect those two situations.

No I checked that, the top loop is just abnormally small. It has endloop sizes more like a longbow string. Im just gonna make a new string I think.
