What do you guys think. Is a 30" alaskan arrow with a 250gr pt total weight near 740grs, to heavy for a 52# morrison. and a 58# shrew scout recurve? They fly great!

If they fly great you answered you're own question.

For hunting to have a future, we must invest ourselves in future hunters.

I'll second that. If they fly great then why worry? I shoot a 722gr arrow out of my longbow that's only 51#'s at my draw and I'm very satisfied with it's performance.

A heavy arrow not moving or a light arrow going fast there is supposed to be an opt performance level of around 9gr per #. but I agree if your getting good flight and happy with the performance then shoot them.

Rod Ham

You get smooth, quiet accurate shots that punch through almost anything.  All for the price of staying a little closer to your intended target (the biggest rush in hunting anyway).  Also don't forget complete confidence that the arrow will do its work.  Keep your setups at or under 20 yards and you have a win-win scenario.

A couple years ago I was hunting with a Lewis Hollow recurve that was 49@28 and shooting 700 grain Carbonwoods. Never connected with that set-up but did take a shot at a doe at 30 yards and missed. IThis year I will be shooting 690 grain Carbonwoods outta 2 bows. The first is a 59@28 Abbot longbow and the other is a 54@28 Shrew longbow. I'll have Zephyr Sasquatch's on the ends of these.

I like a heavy arrow. If they shoot good kill somethin with it.
