Anyonehave any luckk in this area my buddy drew his elk tag after five years of applying. The thing is we arent familar with the area at all. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Get yourself BLM, Forest Service maps, or what is available for the area. After you find likely areas, try to get in touch with the NV game biologist for the area. Call the BLM office, Forest Service.  Search on the this site for Maps threads.

What area. 7 or 8?  I have hunted both

I was in. Near Wildhorse earlier this month for deer.  Last year we saw elk in Gold creek, but my buck hunt only lasted an hour so I did not see elk.  Tell me what area and i will spot you a drainage
My kids wife took a 10 by 6 ladt week in BM.  Cold and leafless trees will get you opportunities.

Edge of Jarbridge wilderness area by Mary's River if you go through Metropolis outside of Wells. Saw some nice big bulls up there. Which unit is your tag in? Saw a guy bring in a big bull from just north of Wildhorse also. Just ask a Ranger, they're pretty good about suggesting areas.
