That will be right after the 2 week gun season is over, conditions will be tough. Are you hunting private or outfitter?

And the late muzzle will be coming back in. But it's always a good time to hunt sika. Lots of public land available too.

AkDan

Got it Don.

I was looking at public.  Just go for the experience and the chance to get out.  I've hunted deer and turkeys now in Pa and MD...it's been quite the experience.  Deer on private and they knew it was hunted land.  You'd see them skirt the property by 50-75 yards at a dead run till they hit the neighbors fields, mill about till dark and head out, and turkeys on public    Not worried about the gun guys, we have almost 0 bow seasons here and most of my hunting partners are smoke poler's anyways.  It'll be fun if nothing else and another experience!  I'm sure I'll be back down next fall the way things are going.

Feel free to contact me when you come down. I can give you some ideas where to go. Might even join you if you are up for it.

With a recent hurricane devestating the area, including 10 plus foot tidal surges, it might not be the best hunting potential.

Anyone know how the islands weathered the storm ?

We're heading down next weekend to access our property. Can't get down there this weekend. I'm sure our access trail is blocked with downed trees so can't use the tractor.

I live there. Wasn't as much damage as there was other places. A lot of rain and high water in South Dorchester, but plenty of high ground for the deer to take refuge. Should be back to normal in a week or two.  Not sure what the deer will eat since the bait hounds won't be able to get to fill their feeders for a week or two!!

AkDan

-20 here today.....it'll be fun regardless!  :)   Getting the chance to see new country is always exciting!

I'll be there as time permits.  I here it gets good with cold weather but I haven't been outside of October yet.  I'm hunting private land though.

Shoot me a PM and I'll see if I can help.  If the stars align, maybe I can take you.  It's not my place but they want a few taken and so far the "trad guy" has been on 'em.  Lol
