Hi All

Well, I know I shouldn't have, but...

I came home at night after running my martial arts class and having finished a big project at work, so I proceeded to have plural beers. I have been wanting a longbow for a while now and temptation was too great for me to resist!

I read many reviews here and ended up calling Dan Toelke to discuss a bow. Must say he was a really nice chap and I ended up ordering a whip from him  62" Whip cocobolo riser yew veneers bamboo cores sheep horn tips 57# @ 28 custom made to these specs for me.

This will be my first longbow - I normally shoot a Predator takedown reflex at 43# so this will be a bit of a jump in weight but I am looking forward to the challenge.

I ordered this on 12th October and received an email today saying it is now ready to ship!

Sounds like you have a fantastic bow about to be shipped.  Hope the big jump in weight isn't an issue.  Keep us posted.......and show some pics.

Some will say you have gone to the dark side of trad.  Welcome to the group! Longbows are just plain fun, but they can be addictive. Now that you are jumping into longbows, it won't be long till you develop a keen interest in wooden arrows as well. It just often works out that way. Post pics when it arrives.

THanks guys,

I will take some pics when it arrives for sure, and yeah I am keen to get into wooden arras and hopefully making some at some stage.

I can see how addictive this can become and thinking the next will probably be more of a classical D longbow    :D  but I think I will have to wait a while or I will be shot by the Mrs    ;)

Cant wait for the pics.  :coffee:

I don't think you could get a better bow and from a guy who is a true craftsman and gentleman than Dan Toelke

Buranurra

Hi all

The Whip has just arrived! It is almost dark but I couldn't resist going out to the backyard to fling a dozen arras! The bow is flawless in finish and feels beautiful in the hand. Despite the flaws of my form the arrows flew fast and true to my target. Super quiet with no handshock. I dunno what a "smooth" draw is as I haven't experienced a "rough" draw, but I'd say that this bow could be the definition of smooth . Despite being 15 pounds heavier in draw weight than my recurve I didn't feel over bowed but am sure that fatigue will build up fast. I will be taking it easy over the next few weeks as I get used to the weight. To me I felt I had gone up around 5-7lb in draw weight not 15.

I couldn't be happier, Dan is a true gentleman and a master craftsman. I will post some pics tomorrow with a bit of luck.

Cheers
