Hey all,

Recently my wifes cat, gained "access" to my longbow and decided the beaver silencer was too good a treat to pass.  While chewing it the feline also chewed a few threads of the string.  Even after all of this, my wife will still not let me use the cats skin for lining of my new quiver... go figure.

Anyway, I want to get a new string before this one decides to go during hunting season.  I have contacted 3 rivers and received quick help, but was asked to contact the bowyer to find out if the bow is made of FF string or not.  The bow is a JD Emerson, longbow, 66" long.  I am not able to find any info on the bowyer so I have two questions:

1.  Does anyone know contact info for the bowyer? My googling found nada.
2.  What would be the disadvantage of just using a dacron string on a bow designed for FF?

Thanks all

Happy hunting.

Its not about the weapon used, its about the adventure involved.

robslifts

does it have tip overlays???   is the tip thicker than the rest of the limb   if it is then it is fast flight compatible

LBR

Disadvantages with dacron:  more handshock, less speed, less durable string, a lot more stretch and creep in the string.

How much more of these you experience depends on the bow and how well the string is made.

donw

the string should be approximately 4" shorter than the bow length.

robslifts and LBR are correct, too.

contact the bowyer for correct info if at all possible
i was told by a sales person, when purchasing an out-of-date newpaper that it was out-of-date...

i told her "i've been told i'm out-of-date, too"...

does that mean i'm up-to-date?
