To me, with hogs the meat is the trophy. Brain's 55 lb boar will be excellent on the table!
I've got a portion marinading right now for a cookout this afternoon.

Sounds like a grand adventure!  Congrats!  I looked up Ft. Pierce, looks like it is not to far from Stuart.  Since I have an Aunt and Uncle with a place there I might be able to work up a visit hunt scenario!!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

The fruit is now falling(early), grapefruit, orages, and tangelos. The grove attracts pigs from neighboring farms that harvest their fruit.

Our fruit falls on the ground for the hogs and bowhunting guide.

Awesome report Jim. I am looking forward to my hunt this weekend.

Looks like a fine time!!  A great eating hog, on the last day, on his birthday no less - doesn't get any better than that!

Jim, CJ, Brian,
Awesome hunt and great story. I don't think you need my help editing it.
I'm envious and can't wait to get down again this winter for some more guiding, setting up the 2nd property, (hopefully) and meeting some really neat bowhunters. I'm so glad we cater to trad guys...just seem to really want to make the hunt successful and fun, but if they don't, all of them have still told me they had a great time. It's about the experience.
Wow...hitting a rat? And the first tilapia so far! Awesome!
You guys rock!
Looks like the feeders are staying anchored to the ground, and the varmint screen guards are working. Good work Jim.
You should put up the picture of you and I installing feeders. You remember the one where you have your head down on the shovel...
And lastly, I guess I didn't have to tell Brian to practice his shooting. Looks as though he could out shoot me every day of the week.
It's so awesome that he coulod come from the UK to the US where he can actually legally bowhunt. Ridiculous rules in England...the place where it all began, and you can't bowhunt?? What are people thinking.
Hope to see you guys again and again.
Thanks for hunting with us.

What folks need to know too is that October isn't the best time of the year for pig hunting in Florida but we still saw hogs every day. It's the rainy season, every day at 4 it starts to rain. The grass is 6 foot tall in places.  I forgot my Thermocel in my morning stand and remembered it 10 minutes into my evening sit. I thought I'd just cut cross country to the stand and get it. BS, not without a machete and a boat I found out the hard way. I hiked out to the road and walked it instead. Plus there is a bunch for the pigs to eat. Acorns are falling as is the fruit. The Tangelos are awesome by the way. This property has plenty of cover, food and water, just what pigs love.  Give Jim a call

I had some meat from Brian's hog the other day, oustanding! I soaked it in a brine mixture overnight and then cooked it on the grill with indirect heat. It was mouthwatering. My son was eating it like candy.
Brining really keeps the moisture in and actually shortens the cooking time, too.
CJ (killinstuff) I bought a machete and will get one of those scythe things(looks like a 3 iron shaft with a long serrated blade). We've had 5 more inches of rain since you left!

Katie do you do much surfing there in Iowa??? I had no idea.

I bet Jim would drive you to the stand, carrier you to a comfy chair in a pop up blind and drag out that big hog you arrowed.  Right Jim? Jim?  Right Jim?
