I must say that i did not get my elk this year.  We had a great hunt.  Called in a nice bull on our own that did not cooperate.  The thrill of the hunt was awesome.  My buddy and I actually high fived after the near kill.  Maybe it is because I am 52 but I am enjoying the hunt far more than the kill these days.  Being in the woods with a longbow,  humping up and down mountains, reliving the days hunt  with a good meal.  It is all good.  I am glad I found this forum...it is what the traditional way is all about.

Congrats on your newfound enthusiasm!

You might get a lot more responses though, if this thread were moved to the Pow Wow forum, instead of being in the Highlights forum.

It's not the kill, it's the thrill of the chase.

I agree 100%...

It's the journey, not the destination..
