Got skunked deer hunting this morning so after seeing zero movement from deer I decided to move a stand I hung last year. I called the landowner before I re hung the stand to see if he had plans for the area where I was going to place the stand.

During our conversation, he asked me to have a look along a gravel road on the property to see what I thought about "something" he had seen. I got a look and my eyes about popped out. This is one big hog track. To his knowledge none of the area landowners have  hogs. I hope the pictures show the size of this track in the rooting troughs, its a biggun. I dont plan on doing anything different on this property but it sure adds some spice to sitting a cold morning on stand. All of the tracks were the same size so I believe its a big, lone,  boar hog.  Bring it on!

I've read that they've moved in upstate Izzy...I know its not good for the landowners but I'd love to hunt them just the same..post some pics when you skewer that porker!!

Good luck Izzy. I hope to see some pics of a big hog and deer from you.

Dang Izzy, if there's anyone qualified to rid the landowner of this nuisance it's you!

I wonder how long it will be before we start seeing them on the other-side of the pond?  I have mixed feelings about that!  I would guess that there might be a few here already.
That's why they call it hunting....

I think I feel the same about hogs that I do coyotes! Love to see and hear them but worry about their impact on game...

Today would have been a great day to stalk the trails in the misty rain but I got pinned down doing my pre hunting season honey dos before the prime time starts up. I do plan to get after him, and if it turns out hes an escapee/farm hog, he'll get it just the same if I can catch up to him.

I did see one up there about 20 years ago that was a confirmed farm escapee and I passed on shooting his big *ss. When I later told the farmer I'd seen it he asked me why the hell I didnt shoot it.

vtmtnman

Get the sucker!Has to be an escape from a local farm.

Izzy

The only other possibility besides an ex farm pig is an escapee from the preserve about 10 miles away. There have been critters escaping from there since it was opened.

NOMAD88

Gotta keep us posted on this one Izzy..You been back there yet?

Stumpkiller

Good luck sticking that piggy!
