Bear Mag Riser Side Quiver Modification

I was thinking that a GN side mount quiver would look really nice on a Bear Mag Riser.

The factory quiver insert would work to attach the bottom mount but the riser would have to be tapped for the top mount.

Has anyone ever made this mod that would share their thoughts?

Thanks

WhiteOaks, go for it!  I use GN strap-ons on my longbows and side mounts on my recurve.  No problem with the tapped upper mount.  If the mag is a later one with the plastic bear 'button', just remove it and tap the hole.  Works super.
Good luck.

So would you recommend just tapping the riser or glueing in one of the brass riser inserts?

Thanks much.
I should have thought of this idea a long time ago. I'm confident that GN quiver will look awesome on the A Mag Riser.

That is a magnesium riser so be careful about the small shavings...very flammable!
I also have a couple of the Bear quivers available with the upper and lower fork to go under a bolt. 4 and 8 arrow. If interested check with me before you drill a hole, the GN is adjustable, the Bears are not.

JimB

raghorn, doesn't the upper bracket adjust for distance or are we talking about 2 different type quivers?

WhiteOaks

Raghorn,
Thanks for the advice.
Im set on a GN on these Mags .
Hope i dont mess up.

Different quiver. Bear modified the existing 4 and 8 arrow(short) quivers and added a upper fork bracket for mounting to the TDs  and the compound in 1975 &76. In 1977 they went to the longer Kodiak quiver.

I get it.Thanks for the information raghorn.

WhiteOaks

I have a couple of those.
Just never knew what they were designed for.
Thanks

What Dennis said, I didn't think the wall thickness under the coin was thick enough so I drilled it bigger and put a quarter inch lock nut in the groove under the sight plate. I figure I can always hot glue the medallion back if I sell or trade.
As a side I was taught in trade schools that a bolt should have at least its diameter of thread to fasten to.

It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.
