I get good flight from 4" feathers but was wondering if anyone here uses 3" feathers and how they fly for you with broadheads?

I don't have any input with broadheads but a guy I shoot with uses them with field points with good success.

I too have thought about them.  I shoot 45 to 48 pounds of draw with 125 grain points.  I called and asked about the RAYZR feathers one time and was basically told to stay away from them and they would not be a good choice for us Trad fellas.  Who knows, maybe I got the guy that delivers water instead of the one that makes the feathers.


Curious to see what others have to say.

I shoot 2 inch razors and some home made 2.25. here is a picture of the home made ones

I dont know why they say to stay away from the razors they fly great too If you bare tuner your arrows first!

I've been shooting 4 X 4 inch fletch for several years now.  I went down to a 3.5" feather and my 200 grain Razorcaps fly like darts...love the way they shoot. Maybe in the Spring I'll try less feather and see what happens. I agree with LITTLEBIGMAN about tuning. Makes shooting broadheads a lot less complicated.

I have dropped down to 3" feathers, the first thing you notice is trajectory. The little less drag flattens the arrow out. The 2nd thing I noticed is when the smaller feather gets wet it stays a bit stiffer and seems to dry faster with a sharp tap on your arm. The smaller the feather the more precise your tune has to be to work well.

I too shoot 3" feathers on a Axis shaft with 200 gr razorcap and 100gr insert, 540 overall weight.  Fly great, been shooting 3" for about 4 years now.

I shot with a gentleman one time who shot 4 3" feathers and they flew great! He said he went to 4 to accomodate broadheads and gets the same flight from field points and broadheads.

I shoot a 50# @28" Centaur and draw 29 1/2" and tried some Walmart  arrows. And they came with 2.5' plastic vanes, well  I thought I try them just for grins before stripping them off.  I was surprise at how well they shot especially at longer distance 40 yds plus. I still have them on and shoot around the yard with them, and plan on getting some 3" shield next time I order. I also tried them with my new Simmons Tiger Sharks flew just as good as my arrows with 4" feathers.

I shoot the 3" Shield Cut from Magnus on MFX 400's with Simmons Tree Sharks..fly great.

I shoot 3".  If the bare shafts fly good then the fletched shaft will fly great.

I shoot them alot, with 170 gr heads and great flight. Also, less affected by crosswinds as less surface area.  I have a crosswind every evening in my yard/range, and it will kick 4" and 5" feathers, hardly bothers the 3". I could chop and send you a few to try, rw.
