Deer Season is upon us finally and I'm just wondering how many Tradgangers out there have taken a P & Y Buck with Tradtional Tackle from their own hunting land? Land that you own or lease or government land... you know "your" hunting club or public honey hole. The place you hang your own stands, do all your own scouting...your woods. IMO has got to be ultimate bowhunting trophy especially in the southeast.
Aim down your arrow because thats where it's going.

Jake

Do you mean vs a guided hunt or lodge???

joebuck

No Guided Hunts...There is no guide at this place, you are the guide....your own "place " where you hunt deer, probably squirels, rabbits, etc...May be the place where your son first shot his first BB gun......It's your "Deer Camp"...you grow your own food plots or you fill the feeders ( Marty     )...It's "your" lease or property....It may be behind your house or 100 miles across state but you call it "My" deer camp...No draws for tags, NO airline tickets or pre-hung stands....It's 100% you.
Aim down your arrow because thats where it's going.

Guru

Under those rules no....

One was at a place my friend and I both hunt and we put our heads together the morning I killed one the closest to home

Other two involved a plane ticket, but weren't guided hunts.

I've been blessed with a lot of good friends that have shared their hunting ground with me......

Hey Guru,Rico,KennyM and Tony...only 4 out of 400(TradG daily users)....Congrats,You have accomplished only what 1% of us dream about..  :notworthy:  ..move over though..I feel like I'm going to shoot 2 this year....My buddy Sam at the Paradise Club in S. Ga got one with recurve but it's really rare to hear about someone doing this in the southeast.

BamBooBender

A good friend of mine in North TX did just what you're describing only minus the traditional tackle.   fwiw
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Goodbye Shiner you were always a good dog.

Bill Carlsen

Here's my best after a four year effort "behind the house". He scored 152 + and dressed at 207#...was a State of NH bow record for 10  years or so. Shot him with a 69# Groves taked down and 2216 arrows during the first week of the 1990 gun season.

Marty

Bill, congrats, that is quite an accomplishment.

Joey, is this a survey? Sounds to me that you better not count your chickens too soon. The wolf might find his way into the henhouse.

I saw you count on that gobbler last spring and last I heard, he was still roosted in the Cypress just south of camp. You better back it up after startin a thread like this!!!

ps I hope I eat my words.

joebuck

Marty , I was quiet as a mouse last year....look what happened.....i choked on 4 different ones......3 in 1 hour....well one was a nick......2 limbs deflections...and..1 bounce out.....so i'm using a different mojo this year...pre braggin.    ..at least someone didn't write an article in a magazine about my 'miss" and i didn't cry...... i'm predicting my first P & Y this year from "My Deer Camp" category....there mcMahon...i predicted it..

Bill C. is my new hero....great buck

Marty...Eldon told me something about you in Kansas last year...I will give you the benefit of the doubt that he stretched the truth a little. He said it  had to do with rushing the shot.  Care to comment?

Marty

No rush, pure choke. Buck of a lifetime. I will try again soon though! But, whatever Eldon said, it involved stretching the truth! Heck, I already missed a doe last weekend, just warmin up for Kansas.

kennym

Joey, thanks for includin my name, but they haven't been officially scored,so I prolly don't count....LOL  But hey,I feel like shootin one  ..........SATURDAY  AM  :bigsmyl:
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Gun

One with those specifics. Another that I shot on someone else's land but my scouting and treestand placement. Haven't paid to hunt Whitetails yet. Unless you count taxes.  :)
It's really simple. Just don't take those borderline shots. Tomorrow is another day.

Bill Carlsen

Marty...really enjoyed you guys on the bear hunt last Fall at Eldons. Missed seeing you all this year. You guys ever planning on going back or has Eldon's jokes gotten too old?
The best things in life....aren't things!

Marty

I'd love to go back to Eldon's sometime, but can't do everything. He is one great guy and an excellent outfitter. At my age, his jokes seem new everytime I hear them! Except for the Honky Tonk shoes joke, That one's goota go!!! Good luck in your upcoming season.
