Does the soft side of velcro work well as a rest and strike plate? I am also curious as to will it eat up feathers.
James Kerr

Roy from Pa

Yes, velcro works great for both.

Robertfishes

yes, the velcro works well,is quiet, easy to find and not expensive.  but if you shoot alot of arrows you have to replace the velcro as it wears out.. I bought some adhesive backed very thin leather from 3Rivers and it has outlasted any kind of velcro I have ever used 10 to 1. It is thinner than velcro so that helps me with my centershot.. I added a link, hope it works      http://www.3riversarchery.com/product.asp?i=6097X

So it sounds like velcro doesn't last very long. I would use leather but it is so noisy on the draw with an arrow.

If you want something that lasts and is quiet get some seal skin. Hard to find but at this time on the arrow add's there is a fella selling and he has a whole womans coat of it.

3" square for $9.00 can not beat that price.

EFA (a sponsor) sells a beaver tail rest material. I have it on all my bows. Some has been in use for many years.

Hard to beat seal skin... though I would not hesitate using some cordovan leather on my shelf.

Their is an industrial strength velcro that wears pretty well.

I find that the fuzzy side of velcro works great for a rest. It provides a little cushion for forgiveness and last a very long time on my bows. I use something different for the arrow plate.

Roy from Pa

That's ok Charles, ya don't have to tell us about the side plate:)

Charlie Lamb

OK! Side plate I use very thin leather... usually something garment grade thick. A little shim of leather goes under that for a contact point.

So there!!   :D

When I started using velcro many years ago, I never looked at anything since.

BTW, velcro is standard material for rest and strike plate on a Blacktail bow when you get one from the bowyer.

On my Cheetah, I use a very thin pigskin. Last forever.

What do y'all use for adhesive when changing your calf hair rests, leather rests, etc. I've tried super glue and fletching glue, but it's hard to get off when changing rests.
