I've been out tuning up on sqirrels and having a riot. Well the other day as I'm stillhunting for squirrels what do I see but a nice young six point feeding along out in front of me. Time to test my skills. First I combed the area for other deer as I found that more often or not I blow it because unseen deer bust me. No other deer that I can see so here goes! The conditions were perfect as it had just rained and a front was moving in with peroidic gusts of wind adding movement to the woods. I love early in the season when there is plenty of cover because if it was November this whole thing wouldn't have happened.
He had moved quickly down a slope but when he reached the bottom he was all about feeding putting his head down for long periods which allowed me to closine in half the distance fast.
Snap! A good size strick breaks! Not by me or by him, but a moment later buck two and three walk into view! Now it's getting interesting! After a little josting it back to feeding and I have to try and keep tabs of all three. I had an arrow on the string because I was actually squirrel hunting, so what show up 10' away? Yup a squirrel. Now here's what I like about bowhunting! I shot twice at that squirrel with the deer both within 40 yards and they never knew it. OK back to counting coup! One deer totally moved off but the other two just kept feeding along with me trailing. If I got to 20 yards I was going to call it coup but as it ended up I got to 30 before I busted first just by one but then both. What fun!! Oh ya, and I did redeem my miss by double lunging a squirrel at 30 yds! Had him and another squirrel for lunch yesterday.

Hey, that's cool.  I'll try that when it's not deer season, and I'm out looking for hogs.
