It doesnt make you "better", However i like for my face to be concealed. The last thing I want is a big pale face sticking out in the woods. I wear quite a bit of paint, however it doesnt take much to cover my entire face I use a H.S. camo compac that i have had for about 3-4 years now and still have a bunch left. I just dont like having a face mask to get in the way of my anchor points.
My thoughts too. I prefer a face mask but won't wear one since it interferes with my anchor.

I stopped watching hunting shows a couple years ago. Really don't watch much of any tv anymore. Keeps me from worrying to much about what others are doing.

I do however enjoy some of the fine Trad hunting videos availible from time to time.

i agree, i stopped also. it makes me hate it. its another fad that will pass. hunting shows are not much about hunting anymore its more about products and endorsements and competitions.

It goes great with all that nice camo sitting in a house blind that has more accommodations that the house I am sitting in right now.

I stopped using paint and cork in the 60s when we stopped at the diner for lunch and everyone looked at us like we were idiots. Made me very self concious. Face mask nowadays.

Can't remember ever beating up an animal.
I watch the hunting shows with my kids to show them how not to do it.

never saw the show ? seriously dont watch em - the few I saw many years ago the guys were all bare faced.

I am a big believer in full camo - i use a bandana for lower face and a leafy or top - burned cork for cheeks brow ears.

There is a group of guys on y hog lease who use camo for entire face hands neck ears and these guys are deadly - no question they are serious about closing the deal when they leave camp and no question they believe they will get a close encounter.

I am getting one of those compacts for my left hand since we do much of our hunting with no gloves

I think they try to disguise their faces so the deer that they have more photo's and info on than most people do of their children won't walk up them begging cookies.

What Killie said.  She's a quick wit and obviously well-read!  Careful...on my second cup of caffeine...steady on the keyboard... do not want to commit typing "faux pas" (that's fox paws in southern) and accidentally click 'well-reared'!  She might fling an arrow my way!

Ok, since it appears that face camo is not in favor, what do you use?

I find that for hunting hogs in swamps, it makes a difference. I dont do much tree stand hunting, but, I assume hunters have to cut their glare by using something.

I have seen many "hero shots" on this forum where the hunter is wearing some face camo, especially elk hunters. Has to be useful or so many people would not be using it

I use burnt cork and I think it makes a difference. Far as the hunting shows go, most make me sick.

I don't usually use face camo from a tree stand.  My neck gaiter and hat cover most of my face anyway.

I use a bit when I hunt from the ground though.  Just rub on a thin layer of black to cut the glare around my cheek bones and nose.

A little glitter, a little glam, a little shimmer, and lots of color...you will stand out beautifully!

No matter how you slice it...it tastes that much better when it was earned the hard way.

I like the hunting shows.  Granted there's a lot of theatrics, but I enjoy them.

This will be my first year hunting with a bow in a long time.  I'm planning on some face paint since I'll be on the ground.  Seems like there's a lot of folks that post their success photos on here with face paint.  Must help.
Shooting a vintage Bear Grizzly makes me smile.

Killdeer

Not to be misunderstood,

I need to feel my anchor, close to my skin, and fear any obstruction to the string. I am experimenting with SpandoFlage, but don't trust it completely. I have enough release issues!

Duncan,  it's not that face camo is in question....I think everyone agrees it's a good idea. The original statement was whether or not you should try to look like a member of the band KISS and is that really camo or marketing.....or vanity?
