Hi, just started shooting a recurve, TONS of things to try & pick up.
bow specs  Sierra Shakespeare x18 45#'s  there is alittle "twang" to the bow upon release, I am used to compounds but liked a recurve that I tested (Greatree GosHawk)
I think I am over bowed for the time being at 45#'s, slapped my forearm a lot

BUT I also did ok after a while, this is my best 20 yard group.

gazillion things to learn, not sure where to start, I think its better to concentrate on my strength so I dont shake that much when I anchor.  what say you?

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

Welcome to the site.  One of the first things you should do is buy an arm guard.  Ouch!

Hot Hap

If your slapping your forearm raise your brace height. Welcome. Hap

jkcerda

heard twisting the string should raise the B-Height.
not sure about getting an arm sling just yet, I think I rather correct my form.

MonRiver

Welcome aboard!

I'd recommend the arm guard.

And if you twist your string a few times, it'll raise the brace height.

how do I know how Much to change the braceH ? will it affect the bow?
waiting on a stringer so I can mess with it.

Thumper Dunker

Welcome . Your string might be too close to the bow . Thats why its hitting you . or you could be holding your bow wrong . Iether case get an arm gaurd just for boo boos . I got a scar on my arm from a boo boo. Theres some great teachers here that can help with  tunning your bow ect.
You can hop but you can't hide.

Welcome to the gang. Be patient, take your time, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Lots of knowledge here. For my. 02, get the armguard and forget about the 20 yard group for now. Move up to 10, shoot till you're busting nocks and putting the group where you want it, then start moving back. Btw, love my Omega one piece.
