I was excited to get out for the WI bowhunting  opener. I have been trying to harvest a whitetail with the bow my daughter picked out for me since last season. It has her name on it as well as a saying she wanted BW to put on the bow for me which reads " I will love you forever and ever daddy".

It was 80 degrees outside when I climbed into the stand a little past 4PM.The sky was clear and the wind was perfect. I started to wonder if the sun was ever going to set as it beats down on me causing me to sweat a little. There was alot of fresh sign in the area and seeing how it was opening day, I knew today I would have the best chance at catching a glimpse of a deer that would be in their summer routine in an undisturbed area due to no hunting pressure.

At around 5:00, I happen to glance up and I see a spike feeding towards me at around 20/22 yards followed by a mature doe another 10 or so yards behind him. This all happened so fast, I didn't have alot of time to react. The spike worked its way to about 17 yards to my left while the doe was still holding back and feeding on some green leaves, with no idea that I am there.
