What can one buy after two Cari-bow Peregines? It is hard to improve such bows... Nevertheless, I always had this strange desire for a take-down, maybe a Silver-Fox then? On the other hand, I always had a second strange desire for a recurve or.... Uh, wait a minute? Why not a take-down recurve then? That's two flies with one stroke as we say in the Netherlands. Yeah baby that's right.
So I just bought this bow from my good friend Hubert from Germany.

It is a like new Whippenstick Phoenix, Ken's newest model. The word is that is is the finest recurve on the market today.  I tend to believe it...         :)

This baby pulls as sweet as hot butter and launches a 9 grains arrow close to or over the 200 fps.

It is 44lbs@28" but since I draw 29.5 she will deliver something like 48-49.

It can easily compete with my Cari-bow Peregrines.. Smoooooth, smoking fast and dead-quiet..

And yeah that's right, that is a checkered handgrip!
All it needs is some antler limb bolts and an SBD skinny string, because no other strings are allowed on my bows!

Bocote/wenge riser and bocote limbs.

You guys want some pics? here they are:

Finally I was able to test-drive the bow last Sunday.

I shot many many bows, and own self a few very good bows, but I must say:

The Whippenstick Phoenix is a different league! The best bow I ever shot, period. Incredible smooth, very fast, very forgiven, dead quiet and very very stable. Great craftmanship, Ken is on par with he best of the best.
After half an hour our so, I could shooth without any problems distances on 60 yards, as if I owned this bow for years.
This bow could become my favorite.....I bought it ofcourse.

The bocote colored darker and richer, and the bow now looks so much prettier!

Hubert (did I tell you allready what a great guy he is?)installed my (or his?) small Fry Thunderhorn BOA in the inserts, no leather straps anymore!
