....is now my new windvane. Plumber was shooting the iron deer at our club's wounded veteran shoot a couple of weeks ago and he smashed his carbon arrow up (for a good cause). He gave it to me to try to use it by cutting off the split part but it was too short so I made a replacement windvane out of it using the front of my old windvane which died a few weeks ago. I use it to monitor the wind down in the bottom near my groundblind.

Thanks Ed.

Way to be creative and recycle!

Ed is something as is that crew of kids of his... they're all a laugh a minute.
The words "Child" and "terminal illness" should never share the same sentence! Those who care-do, others question!

That's too funny, Rich.  :D  Ed should get a kick out of that.

HMB has a meeting tonight and our Trad shoot on Saturday. Hope you can make it. I have your second string made and will have it with me.

I like that!!! I'm guessing the broadhead part is very light and I'm thinking I could make one from a thin piece of wood wrapped with foil or painted silver..... I agree in that a bunch are going to be made..........and soon.. Very Neat!!

reddogge

Larry, quite the contrary. You want the broadhead part pretty heavy to counter balance the rest of the arrow so the majority is behind the pivot point. I used an old piece of laminate material with some lead glued to it but it was for my first arrows. It was a little heavy so I added some lead into the nock end sealed with silicone to counter balance it. You need a little mass weight so it doesn't swing wildly about anyway.

When I drilled it I made the hole big enough to accept a small piece of brass tubing and the nail fits into that with a couple of washers top and bottom. That way it doesn't bind in the weather. The nail is at the balance point now.
