was wondering what is your favorite backpack, was checking out the badlands 4500, nice pack, big $$$, looks well constructed.

Kelty Coyote in camo.  Great bag, a smidge bigger than the badlands, construction is 99% of badlands and Eberlestock... Long track record as a good backpacking pack... works for me!

jeanpaul3006, what do you plan to do with it? Are you looking to haul meat, or just a day pack?

Jansport Carson

I have the Jansport Carson 90 (for long torsos...because I'm taller than the average bear).

4900 cubic inches. The Green/Grey color would blend well, but it's not camo.

Iam a Kifaru fan.They have the cargo shelf that let you haul out as much as you can phyisically carry. They are USA made,superb quality and offer great service.The owner is a hunter himself.

I'd look at the Badlands 2200.
Built in meat shelf.
Kevlar bar tacking at all of the stress points.
All seams are sealed and taped for the ultimate in water resistance.
Holds a 100oz water bladder.
It has a rear entrance that allows you to enter the main compartment of the pack without taking the pack off.
You could probably spend 2-3 night out and be very comfortable.
Not to mention the best Lifetime Unconditional Guarantee in the industry. If anything ever goes wrong with the pack,doesn't matter if it's your fault, they will fix or replace the pack at no cost. Doesn't matter if you bought it at a garage sale, they'll take care of you.

+1 for Kifaru.  I use them exclusively, after trying out the best of the rest for over 25 years.

For summer rambling and early season bowhunting I use the Late Season, occasionally with a medium Pod.  For late season rifle hunting, I use my Longhunter regular.  You would be wise to check out Kifaru's website and look at the following packs:

Patrick Smith, president and designer at Kifaru, knows top-shelf packs.  He founded Mountainsmith back in the 70's.  He's a hunter and backpacker, and a hardcore one at that.  I've spent many a day and night on the trail with him.  You can't do any better than the packs he has designed.  Do yourself a favor, check it out.

I like to support the hunting-focused companies, but I have to say, the backpacking and hiking type people (companies) have a few things figured out (in spite of being tree huggers).

They like waterproof, warm, light, spacious, easy access, etc. just as much (and possibly more)than we do.

Let's be honest...most of us don't stalk moose through willows with 45lb packs on our backs!
